So there are a few questions on Yahoo that people have posted about us becoming Gods. It kinda makes sense to me... Puppies become Dogs, Kittens become Cats... Children of God become Gods? But I haven't read anywhere in the Bible where it says one way or the other. When people have responded in the past they have said stuff like, "because the Bible says so." Does anybody have any scripture references that say one way or the other?
Please only answer if you have a scripture reference, post the scripture, and explain its meaning.
Oh and no non-bible references (Book of Mormon, Quron, etc.). Just the Old Testament and New Testament. Thanks

You may not find exactly the quote you want, but think about these scriptures:
Matt. 5: 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
John 10: 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Acts 17: 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
Rom. 8: 16-17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
1 Cor. 13: 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Gal. 4: 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Heb. 12: 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
1 Jn. 3: 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Rev. 3: 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Think what it means to be a joint heir with Christ - to be like Jesus who is God the Son. Think what it means to be one with God, as Jesus prayed that we might be. Think what it means to be like Jesus.

Well, the idea isn't wholly unsupported by the Bible.
not that I believe the Bible, but it's an interesting concept.
If you look at God's rationale for making different languages among people, it is so man will not become omnipotent:
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children builded. 6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel (confusion); because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
I have also seen this translated as "Nothing they imagine will now be impossible for them."
I personally believe God is evolving just as we are, so why not? It's a BIG hypothetical, but it's an idea that shouldn't be dismissed.

The one that comes to mind is:
1 John 3:2
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
As for your request that I explain its meaning, I'd rather not; I'm not a believer in the bible and don't presume to interpret it to you.

Joseph Smith taught the doctrine of a "plurality of gods" as the bedrock belief of mormonism. He developed this doctrine to reflect his belief that not only are there many gods, but they once were mortal men who had developed in righteousness until they had learned enough and merited godhood. This is camouflaged by the term "eternal progression", and it refers to godhood as "exaltation." It's a church 'euphemism' to explain away the idea that men becoming gods is blasphemous to orthodox Christians.
As Smith stated "I will preach on the plurality of gods. I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see" (King Follett Discourse).
By the time he announced this in 1844, he had convinced himself they he was the greatest man since Jesus, and could say any damn thing that popped into his imagination.
