That being the case, why all this noise in India about how a non-Hindu not being allowed into Guruvayur is outdated?

Restricting access to Mecca is intended to provide a place of peace and refuge for Muslim believers and preserve the sanctity of the holy cities. Millions of Muslims make the pilgrimage to Mecca each year, and additional tourist traffic would simply add to the congestion and detract from the spirituality of the pilgrimage visit.

Now as for a non-Hindu not being allowed into Guruvayur is, I believe, because they think that the temple will be defiled if a non-Hindu is allowed to enter.

I hope this helps

How many misconceptions and confusions do all of you have about Islam!! Have you known any muslims? Have you interacted with any? Or do you just believe whatever is flashed in the media?

To answer your question first, non Muslims are not allowed because it is a holy sanctuary. You have to qualify certain requirements to be there and being a believer (as per Islam) is the requirement. You can understand it like this: not all civilians are allowed in some cantonment areas or high security areas. You need a certain permit to be there. Its the same with Mecca. In this case the permit is being a Muslim. Also please note that Mecca as a city has no significance. The only significance is the presence of Haram (or Kaaba) over there. So what would a non muslim want to do there? Kaaba is not a touristic site. Its a place of worship. If someone deos not worship God, then why does he want to waste time being there?

Someone said that Muslims worship kaaba. Not at all. They pray "in the direction of Kaaba" for solidarity and because it was constrcuted by Abraham and because God has ordered them to pray in that direction but all the time they are worshipping God. Do you even know what they say in their prayers? So how can you say they worship kaaba.

Another person has commented that women can't have coffee together with men in Saudi Arabia. Do you think Saudi Arabia is the epitome of Islam or are they the only Muslims in the world? What happens in Saudi Arabia is something cultural and is not necessarily ordained by Islam. You would find many villages in parts of Africa or India who are not Muslims where women are not allwed to set foot outside their homes. So don't label cultural diversities on Islam.

I think this forum is aimed at getting to know the facts, not for flashing your prejudices and ignorance.

listed under are the explanation why any non-Muslim might prefer to pass to Mecca: -job: as a Muslim holy city i think of non-Muslims shouldn't artwork in it, simply by fact the precedence could pass to Muslims. It potential extra to a Muslim to artwork in Mecca than it does to a non-Muslim. -Tourism: it incredibly is precisely what i do no longer prefer Mecca to finally end up being: a tourist internet site for non-Muslims. heavily, Mecca is a place of worship, no longer of tourism.

According to Islam.com, its because non Muslims are unclean:
"The ban on non-Muslim visitors is mentioned in the Qur’an as follows: "Oh you who believe! Truly the idolaters are unclean; so let them not, after this year, approach the Sacred Mosque...." (9:28). This verse specifically refers to the Grand Mosque in Mecca; later scholars have included Madinah in this ruling as well."

So basically, non-Muslims worship idols and are unclean

well, one of main reasons is that Mecca is the holiest place on Earth for the Muslims. Once a person goes there, he/she must be truly DEDICATED to Allah and is not lost on it's path. A lot of Christians disregard the importance of Mecca as a living proof and history of Abraham and Ishmael. A lot of people also disrespect it. How sad and ignorant.

In simple words, a non-muslim (evidently, this person does not recognize Allah, the One God, the Lord of all) entering Mecca is like a guy entering the woman's bathroom. I hope you understand that non-muslims are banned in Mecca out of plain hatred to them for not being Muslims. It just shows how Muslims honor and respect Mecca not only as a place but a holy and sanctified place. Again, it's like a guy respecting the women's bathroom and the women using it.

Only believers (Muslims) are allowed into Islamic holy sites and Mecca is probably the holiest site in Islam.

Non-believers would defile the sanctity of the place.

And remember the time when We made the House a resort for (((((mankind)))))) and a place of security; We said, 'Take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer.' And we commanded Abraham and Ishmael, saying, 'Purify My House for those who perform the circuit and for those who remain therein for devotion and those who bow down and fall prostrate in Prayer.'

The jews really wish they had Mecca, because they know from the torah and bible that that is where Abraham built the Kabaa, which is still standing there. Also the spring of zam zam that fed Ishmael is still running there. Most christians are completely ignorant of the significance of Mecca
