I owed Mervyns $30.00 for some pants. They did'nt bill me for SEVEN MONTHS. Then when they did they tacked on over $200.00 in interest and "late" fees. Why am I supposed to give then $200.00 for their incompetency. It' not my job to remind them to bill me? Now these A holes have screwed up my credit rating FOR ME.

Legally, they don't even have to send you a bill. Basically, its your debt your responsible for paying whether they send you a bill or not.

Ulitmately, you are responsible. You should have called them when you didn't get the bill after a month and inquired as to why you had not received a bill. You can try to reason with the credit manager to see if they will remove the late charges. Otherwise your stuck with your $230 pants. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Ummmm......you knew you owed Mervyn's the money, didn't you ? Or were you just waiting and hoping that you would never be billed, thus getting free parts?

You should have contacted Mervyn's immediately when you were not billed for the products, documenting your contacts. You would then have a case for disputing their charges.

This is called 'personal responsibility'. Far too many people these days lack in that department.
