it fairly is totally significant to maintain freedom of speech, and to no longer supply the state the the superb option to be certain what's or isn't pronounced. A now and returned conflicting precise is privateness and secure practices against verbal or different varieties of violence. as quickly as the state is granted the the superb option to ward off speech (writing, songs, etc.) that it claims could precipitate harm, we are on an extremely risky slope. it is why the superb court docket, in 1969, (as you suggested) finally reached the favored of secure practices of speech that became proposed in the process the Enlightenment (and that i think could be unique to the US): speech is secure till the factor the place it fairly is an portion of drawing close criminal acts. So in case you and that i pass right into a shop to rob it, you have a gun, and that i say "shoot," it is not secure speech. How a techniques could it pass? Very gentle question, and my own feeling is which you would be able to fairly err on the portion of limiting state ability, as a ordinary rule. yet you improve an incredible factor and that i'm advantageous you're properly conscious that this could be an unsolvable question. My visceral being needs to limit this verbiage yet my mind restrains me from performing swiftly. Any call for the death of somebody isn't secure speech, if that became the case, it fairly is unprotected.

You just make up some other excuse for arresting them, like disturbing the peace or jay walking. Even just detaining them for looking suspicious is loads of fun for cops.

Freedom of Speech, where do you live. You have no freedom. Something given to you is not a freedom, it's a benefit that can be taken away by the same power that gave it. Freedom is a natural right, and while we can argue that freedom of speech is a natural right it has been taken and abused and parsed out piecemeal by all governments including the US. Until you experience other forms of government you will not understand. Growing up in the US they tell you that you have all of these "freedoms" but in reality they are all relegated and regulated so that if you enjoy them in a way the government doesn't like they just take them away.

Of course it is legal. No, I wouldn't arrest someone for flipping me off. It happens quite often. Being a law enforcement officer means you can't take much of anything personally.

It's really funny though. The same people that show you such disrespect and hate are usually the first ones that call for help when something goes wrong.

When it's three in the morning and someone with a gun is kicking down your door to get inside and do unspeakable things to you and your family... Who is it that you call? A law enforcement officer. Who is the only person, that doesn't even know you, that is going to do everything in their power to protect you and your family? The same person that will drag you out of a burning car or step in between a drunken mob that is trying to beat the life out of you...

And no, not all cops deserve the general lack of disrespect. The same way that not everyone we deal with is a criminal. More than half the people I deal with on a day to basis is the general law-abiding public. I treat each individual the way that they treat me. I try to reflect their attitude. I can be just as nice and respectful as anyone. Just when someone shows me such disrespect as flipping me off, I'm not going out of my way to be polite to them.

It is legal but one time a undercover cop cut me off and I gave him the finger. Then he slowed down and waited for me to pass. Then he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for speeding lol true story

I give them the finger ever time I see them harassing a citizen. Their are a few good ones but thousands of them are nothing but trash. We the people need to stand up more to the highway trash.

Yes, the right has been upheld by higher courts, but you better hope that you aren't doing something illegal when you do it, because you could get pencil whipped with citations. Don't be surprised though if the cop gives you the finger back. We have that right protected too.

It sounds like you have an axe to grind with the police. How many times have you been arrested? In any case, the answer to your question is yes, it's legal but your concern about your constitution right to flip off a cop goes way beyond that. You have issues period. Straighten out your act and you won't find the need to ask such ridiculous questions.

It depends, it could be seen as being non-cooperative if he's questioning you, or you're already being arrested. If you flip off a random officer on the street, no it's not illegal, though it is stupid and rude.

Yes it is legal but it is never smart to flip someone off who has a loaded gun.

Here’s my thought on the subject. In order for you to feel that its ok to flip an officer off or anybody for that matter they would have had to do something to really make you react in that way. But reacting to their stupidity by flipping them off, what your really doing is putting yourself on their level, which is what made you frustrated in the first place. Just think about it. You wouldn’t have flipped off a cop or whoever if they hadn’t done something dump to upset you. Believe me sometime when I’m driving I run into some real winners and it takes work to not react to them all. I hope this is helpful for ya.
