Interestingly enough America, having one of the biggest populations of Christians have never had a religion war. Christ taught that we are to seek peace when ever possible .

It's also interesting that if you add up many of the modern non-religion wars you will see over 71,000,000 people killed!

Neither. Although religion was a leading cause of war prior to 1700, that is not the case today; nationalism and economic philosophy have been more important since then. The last really religious war was the Thirty Years War.

Did Jesus brought peace? Did you flunk grammar? Jesus doesn't influence war, man's desires and selfishness does. Since you have no evidence to the contrary, I'll accept the best answer now.

Jesus did not encourage conflicts. This is shown in the counsel he gave to Peter in Matthew 26:51,52.

He pointed to the real solution of injustices, Gods government. (Matt 24:14)

Many conflicts have been fought in the name of religion. As a result many have turned away from God.

However, Jesus said that his true followers would be recognized by their internal love. (John 13:34,35;Acts 10:34)

Jesus is my peace. He has broken down every wall. He Is my Peace, He is my Peace. A song that has come to mind.

But Jesus is also a sword in my family. For those who don't believe in Jesus do cut me off (reject my faith). And also if some of my family is a disobedient Christian, can cut me off (reject me) in something they don't agree with about Christ. But I choose to love God first, before my family.

Jesus' role in Pol Pot's Kampuchea massacres and Cambodian "starve outs": none
Jesus' role in Stalin's purges: none
Jesus' role in Mao's cultural revolution: zero

These three events alone, essentially conducted by those embracing an atheist philosophy, took more life than have all religious wars combined, since the dawn of history.

In the Old Testament, GOD order war, and it was historical; also there was battles with the five senses (spiritual); and in the New Testament, The Christ spoke of God's Word and Love, came to enlighten the Law of Moses, the servant of GOD. And the only war fought by The Christ was with Satan and his demons.

It is a double edged sword ,,,, I believe he has his hand in war because it brings us closer to the destination and it does pull weeds ..Sometimes the good have to die with the bad for freedom..I wish it weren't that way but it is and it will be until God brings his restoration.....
