Why are there so many christians that tell me my beleifs are false and that I'm going to hell? I'm Wiccan by the way. I have met more Wiccans that were nice, caring and giving than I have EVER met as opposed to Christians and I was Methodist most of my life! Why is it that Pagans and Athetiests are the nicest people and dont try to change you and some Christians, if not most, are the judgemental and seem to care about how many they can convert before they die? Is it a competion?

Have fun answering ALL of those questions!!! Brighest Blessings to all that read this!

There is nothing wrong with what you believe in or how you live, if it doesn't hurt anyone. Don't let people bring you down or try to change you. I have had people do that to me over the years when they tried to convince me that i would go to hell if I didn't live by the Bible and go to church. I now have come to my own conclusion, maybe not the truth, that the Bible is just one of those "fairy tales", something created to try and control large groups of people. I do not believe in Adam and Eve. I believe in evolution, of which there is proof, wherein the Bible contradicts itself.

Why do we have to go to church, pay money and listen to someone preach about how we should live when it isn't true? I don't know if i am an atheist, since I do believe in something more powerful than all of us, yet I do not worship God and believe there is one God that created all of us and our world, yet there is supposed to be a hot miserable firey hell if we sin.

I don't try to change people and they are entitled to believe in anything they want. I find it amusing that there are so many religions and beliefs, churches and customs yet every particular religion thinks that theirs is superior and the "real" one. Alot of our world problems revolve around some of these insane religions where people will blow up a plane killing themselves and everyone on it as a sacrifice to God...c'mon...please.

this is a touchy subject and I'm sure alot of Christians and Catholics particulary will say something bad to me because I don't believe in God who created the fictional Adam and Eve where one of their sons found a wife after being cast out of Eden...where did the woman and the other people come from huh? Adam and Eve were the first people so did they populate places everywhere?

Yes, it is disturbing that people are judgmental and look at you as if you have a hole in your head if you were to say you don't believe in hell, let alone say you don't worship their almighty Jesus.

I am confused as to why (if he really was the son of God) Jesus' death was for our sins. How did that benefit us and what did it accomplish so that we celebrate his birth and death every year. He died for my sins? How????

Sweetie, Wiccans are good people just like me. Don't let Christians, Catholics, etc. make you feel bad for who you are and what you believe in.

Simply because christianity is a political religion since 500AD, when eastern roman emperors turned it into the official and general religion of the empire. Since then and like every official religion, it identified with kings and subsequently their political decisions and the populations identified as congregations from border to border.

When the imperial system gave way to the nation-state, the church remained as part of social life and in some places as part of social administration (Spain, Greece, England etc). This gave them the power to influence and impose their beliefs on everyone within national borders and, worse, it gave the believers the delusion that they their earthly existence is connected to the kingdome of heaven and so, being part of something so omnipotent, they feel they have the right on right and wrong, good and evil and general authority on matters of the soul.

An appropriate description to explain how you feel would be early christianity (maybe the only christianity that makes sense) when believers were persecuted and in defence of their beliefs. I just hope humanity will get out of this obscuritism and conceive religion and faith as a clearly personal matter. Since then it will continue being an instrument of control.

Dear Jennifer,
Imagine you are driving down the road at 100 miles an hour. There are lots of cars in the lanes next to you. Those drivers are really nice and wave to you and smile when you look over. All at once you see a car coming right at you! He is honking and making wild gestures. You say "what a Jerk! and swerve to avoid him. Then you see another and another! you start driving more carefully trying to avoid those "morons" driving the opposite way. All your fellow drivers are doing the same. You roll down your window as you pass one of these "Jerks" and you hear " You're going the wrong way! There is a HUGE pit at the end of this road! Just as you hear this your car plunges down a huge cliff and you are destroyed.
This is kind of simplistic, but those people who are coming towards you yelling and gesturing, have seen the end and are trying to warn you. They care about you and don't want you to be destroyed. They are not being mean. If salvation were about who was nice, lots of people would be saved. But it's not. Only giving your heart to Jesus will bring salvation. That is the Christian perspective. I hope that explains the difference.

Pagans and Athiests won't try to change you because you are right where they want you (separated from God).

I'm a Christian, I don't try to change anyone, but I will tell them the Truth.

People take some Christians as spreading the Good News as trying to shove our religion down their throats.

I agree there are some Christians who go about things in the wrong way, and I question if they are true Christians.

A true Christians doesn't push religion on anyone, they simply tell of what Jesus has done for us.

To be honest, I am a Christian & have asked myself & my Christian community those very questions many, many times. I agree with you.
That is why I chose to remove myself from churches & seek a deeper spiritual meaning & relationship with my God on my own because I was obviously worshipping a different God than they were.
I don't understand it. Everything I have learned has taught me to respect other people & differences in religion, race, culture, etc. Somehow everyone else in all of the churches I've ever been to got a different message.

The fact that you once viewed yourself as a Christian, and are now a Wiccan, because of the judgmental behavior of fellow Christians, is an indictment on how poorly we Christians are doing at representing Jesus to the world. Perhaps if we spent more time loving you and your family, instead of judging and pontificating, you might never have left the faith.
I ask you not to pass judgment on Jesus based on the actions of a few, but on the truth of who he is and what he offers. Christianity is meant to be about a "relationship" with him, and seeing the hidden Christ that is in everyone, and for which he laid down his life for. He did not die just for the few but for all.
It seems to me that you knew a church, or perhaps a congregation, but never Jesus himself.
I believe in Him because I know him, I have an experience of him. That experience changes how I speak, talk, live and love.
For what it is worth, please forgive us for failing you; failing to love you;failing to be Jesus to you. Accept a friend's apology, and if you are ever interested, allow me to properly introduce you to Jesus. I think you have not met him and found wanting, but have found what or who you think he is to be insufficient.

God bless you - keep you heart and mind open - seek and you shall find.

The ONLY reason a person would dare to disagree with your belief would be if they were 100% convinced that they were doing it for your own good. No one is trying to hurt your feelings.

I have been studying the Bible for a couple of decades now. I have learned that all of the Biblical prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100 % accurate.

Now think about that for just a moment 100% is a good record. If I was shakey about that I wouldn't be passionate to share that with others. But since I am fully convinced that the Word of God is true, I would be doing you a DISERVICE not to share that with you.

Of course atheists and pagans are going to be nice for you to talk to, ya'll have something in common. I always feel more comfortable with people I have stuff in common with.

The bottom line here is your eternal destiny. Yes, that is important. It is so important folks risk losing your friendship to tell you about it.

God created man (remember the 100% accuracy). Man sinned. Now we are all born with a sin nature. That is a problem because sin is what separates us from God.
Jesus came to pay the penalty for sin. And it is only by faith in Him that we can be reconciled to God and assured of being in heaven with God for eternity. The choice is up to each of us.
Why oh why? Because people love and care about you.

I doubt it's quite that cut and dried. I'm sure you have known caring Christians and have probably encountered atheists and even wiccans that are jerks. Stop generalizing an entire group of people. You do know when you put people on the defensive, you are asking for defensive answers. You shouldn't judge the Christian faith on Christians, but on Christ. Avoiding the truth, doesn't make it less truthful no matter how many excuses and false beliefs you claim.

Well I wouldn't say Atheists never try to change people, But yes we are much nicer. Christians don't think so but they don't understand how annoying it is to hear them talk about Jesus and god. It's like hearing a full grown adult profess his love for Santa, I mean at first you kinda laugh but them once you realize they are serious it kinda freaks you out.

Fascinating to see Scott B, above, trying to be reasonable and conciliatory, and managing for about 15 seconds before habit kicked in and he started condemning again.

Personal best, huh? Let's try for the full 20 seconds next time.
