She was spayed at 8 months, I don't know if this makes any difference or not, it's not been happening for very long, any suggestions to a possible problem would be gratefully received.

Yes, it does happen sometimes. You're best bet would be to take her in to see the vet. That problem can usually be treated with meds. Good luck...

This can happen to female dogs after they are spayed. It's called spay incontinence. She won't even realise she is doing it so it's not a training issue. The muscles that keep the bladder closed can become weakened. It is easily treated by some inexpensive medication from the vets but she will probably have to stay on it for life. She'll be fine.

My dog has that same problem, it started when she was about the same age as your dog is. It is incontinence because of being spayed. It is something with the right amount of hormones are not being produced I think. My dog now gets a pill every 12 days or so and it keeps her from wetting her bed. The pill is sort of like a doggy estrogen pill. They are cheap pills, I think at my vet they were like $10 for 30 pills or so.

When this happened to my cocker spaniel, she actaually had bladder stones. I thought it was a urinary infection, but my vet could actually feel them rolling around when he touched her tummy. He ended up removing approximately 20 little stones from her, looked like little pebbles.

My vet said they call it Milk Bone Syndrome, since most of them are caused by dog biscuits. She can only have the bare minimum of protein now, since hers were caused by dry kibble and milk bones. Things like peanut butter cookies are the worst.

I'd make an appointment with your vet, if it is the stones, they will need to schedule her surgery, if it's just an infection, they can give her antibiotics and prompt pain relief.

Good luck, I hope your girl feels better soon!

Start taking her out for her last "pee" of the evening right before everyone in the household goes to bed. Also, she is probably peeing in the same area of the couch over and over again because she smells old pee from the other times she went on the couch. Saturate the area with some Nature's Miracle during the day. See, also, if it is not too late to get her interested in a dog bed instead of the couch.Get advice from trainers on this issue. Keep me posted.

Spay incontinence. Common problem - usually in older dogs although I've seen it in young adults like yours.

Talk to your vet. There are medications you can give her - or maybe they can do surgery very much like a human bladder tuck.

It is not normal for this to happen. I would take her to the vet and have her checked for a UTI or bladder infection. When there is a sudden change in housebreaking, it usually means something is wrong.

No I don't believe this is normal. My mothers dog had this issue at some point. The veterinarian gave her some medication to clear up the issue I believe but I'm not totally sure what was the problem or the meds.

Could be a bladder infection, could be spay incontinence etc., You should see the vet to rule out problems, then he can treat it properly.

Its most likely a weak bladder. Take her to the vet and you can get some pills for her and that will help her.
