this could apply to us who arent atheists as well. i dont believe in the place called heaven, but sometimes i wish i could go there sometimes, kinda like i wish i could go to the underwater world where i can breathe down there with no help, or fly using only what i was born with.

Hell yes!
I've always wished that I would get to heaven and there would be a recliner placed in a library/media center in which all the answers lie. What happened to the dinosaurs? Where did my lost wallet go? Who was my secret admirer in 10th grade? What does an atom look like? What's the truth about JFK? Who are all my ancestors? What did the big bang look like?
Any question that has plagued me, big or small, the answer would be in that library or on DVD and I could spend eternity and learn everything.
When I became an atheist, I felt ripped off that I was made to believe in such a fantasy as heaven for so long and I will die one day with so many unanswered questions - some that humans may never answer.

Of course, when young lives are taken away..!
But wishing doesn't make things real, and such terrible things do have a scientific explanation, if not yet the medical technology for a better outcome.
However, the infant mortality rate is far less than what it used to be, and this has contributed to global overpopulation, especially in the last 150 years or so..
The world population doubles every 40 years now..!!
I hope the believers' heaven has expanded its premises..

Of course the terrible facts of life, like death, loss, sickness and so on makes one think how nice it would be if the world were full of fairies and magic. But alas, wishing is futile. Evading reality is sometimes helpful to heal a hurt mind, but in the long run, we all have to face it.

Yes. My baby brother, a National Guardsman, was entering Iraq at the same time the crap hit the fan in 2004. That would have been a perfect time for me to convert (but I'm unconvertable).

An afterlife, sure I do sometimes really wish there was one so I could see all my loved ones and pets again. But I wouldn't want it to be the Christian heaven, no way.

Plenty of times.
Of course, I've also been in many situations where I wished Santa was real. Unfortunately, there are many things that I wish were real, but simply aren't...

It is real. Didn't you see Men in Black at the end. Imagine that the edge of the universe is the Higher Ones skin. We are all already a part of the Higher Power, whom ever she is.

Yes heaven could be nice, but only for a limited duration. After a while of getting everything you want and feeling no displeasure of any kind, pleasure will loose its meaning and one would be doomed in a whelm of boredom.
