I don't think it is a vanity or a sin to want to have children biologically. I also think it is more than just wanting the child to look like you. For many women, there is something about being pregnant that makes you feel even more like a woman in a way that I can't explain to someone who hasn't been through it, and conversely, I've spoken to many women who have not been able to get pregnant that erroneously feel that this makes them less of a woman. With men, I think it is a natural human urge to see your family line continue. That being said, I have always wanted to have one and adopt two children, and wish I could get my husband on board with it.
On the flip side, as a social worker, I've seen both how wonderful adoption can be, and how awful it can be. Most cases of adoption that I know about have had beautiful endings, but the ones that didn't work out have been horrendous enough, that I don't blame people for being very cautious before going that route.

Why would it be wrong to try to make a child of your own if your able? There are ALOT of people out there that can't ever have children (myself included) that want to and will adopt. The problem with either situation is that it's just so expensive to adopt or undergo In-vitro these days. So the real question is why is it so costly to give a child that has no parents a wonderful loving home? If sin is real then there is your sin right there. The cost of wanting to love and adopt a child is to high.

You are being self righteous. This isn't Christ Righteousness & there is no verse in the bible denying people children this way.
Yes Christians should adopt children to give them a good home. But yes people can go to a fertility clinic to get pregnant, unless the Lord specificly tells them not to.
Sometimes God will say no. Everyones situation is different. But you can't expect others to not do this because you think it is wrong for you.
And maybe it is God who tells you this is wrong for you. Maybe God wants you to adopt someone right now & your biological baby will come later?

Adoption is not for everyone, you know.
Having your own child is neither a "vanity" nor a "sin". It is a perfectly natural biological urge.
But I would agree that YOU should never breed.

It is vanity, to a certain extent. However, just about everybody that want children, want children of their own. It is sad, though, how many children out there need homes, and have no one that is willing to provide them with one.

According to the last few big stories in the news about people who used fertility clinics, god told them to do it. God does not like to adopt it seems.
