It is 2007 and our moral and family values have been compromised with todays openness with sex. I am not perfect but I did have parents who instilled constant high morals and family values. I did not even have a boyfriend until I was 18. Maybe I'm a little naive, but I have teenage sons who have friends that are girls and are between the ages of 14-16, and their parents don't mind if they spend the night at my house! However, I don't allow it.
My husband is 48 yrs old. He works for a company. He takes smoke breaks with a 21 yr old woman and her 40+ sister. He says the 21 yr has never been married & never bore children. He says she is "young and innocent." When I asked why thinks that, he says that's his opinion of 21 yr olds - they are "young and innocent. This really bothered me. We began debating about what's considred "young and innocent." I told my husband there are lots of 21 yr olds out there that already have children & had sex with many partners. What's your opinion?

At 21 I was naive and young but nothing close to innocent. I guess it all depends how sheltered they have lived and the choices they have made but to say someone is young and innocent just because they are 21 is just guessing.

Hmmmm, properly "in many circumstances youthful and harmless" isn't utilized to a 21 12 months old, regardless of if she's under no circumstances had intercourse.... it fairly is extra of a term used for 14-18, a minimum of in my adventure. LOL.. i'm 40 3. it may be me yet that entire undertaking supplies me a peculiar and wonderful vibe... My 14 yar old isn't even "harmless" anymore.... so hmmmmmmm LOL Take care! =)

Hmmmm, well "generally young and innocent" isn't applied to a 21 year old, even if she's never had sex.... it's more of a term used for 14-18, at least in my experience. LOL.. I am 43.
It may just be me but that whole situation gives me a weird vibe... My 14 yar old isn't even "innocent" anymore.... so hmmmmmmm LOL
Take care! =)

There is no such of a thing these days. The media and peer pressure crush the goodness of our kids and future. Mothers placing their daughters on the Pill at an early age is telling them its okay to have sex. The Texas Gov. wanting to give ALL Jr. High girls a HPV shot because of their sexually activity. I blame the media, the internet and parents who just doesn't care. I have a 14 year old daughter who I watch like a hawk, and I hope that she doesn't fall into this pressure.

Innocence is gone as soon as a kid hits high school. If you want your kids to contunue being inocent conciter home school. They may hate your for it but hay at least theyll be innocent. Also you cant compaire your childhood innocence to that of your kids you grew up in a much diffrent world from that of your kids also you are a female and you has two SONS. And its a known fact that it is a completely diffrent world out thier for a female. And this tough world that we live in today demands that a person is not innocent. The world we live in today will chew up and spit out and innocent person.

In Britain "young and innocent" means:
1) No ASBO ever received
2) Virgin (fingering and oral excluded)
3) Never got any sex diseases
4) Never got drunk
5) Never stabbed
In Britain, an average child is not "young and innocent" any more at the age of 12...

I believe in openess with sex--just not openess about having sex. (It should stay in marriage but it should not be bad to discuss-not details-but ways of making it better etc).
I ask the same question as you a lot. I think most ppl look at it like life experience...and at 21 you probably don't have a lot so you are in some ways innocent. I don't think a lot of ppl realize it until maybe they are older but loosing your virginity does change you a lot. But I think that is something that needs to be looked at with reflection years later. Minutes after, I don't think most ppl would realize that.
good question

Any teenager today that gets through those years unscathed is a great achievement. There is way too much "everything" out there and readily available.I've made it a point to discuss these things with my kids at a very young age because of it. My oldest is just 12 now and I worry every day.We just have to hope we've raised them to think on their own.

I'm a 20 year old atheistic virgin.
Not extraordinarily happy to say so, but it's quite an achievement.
Not necessarily innocent though, not many teenagers are even innocent.

young and innocent in my opinion are best described by one word.NAIVE.there is not one soul that is young or innocent much less both at the same time.my truth is that we all live in the wheel of reincarnation and each one us has been everything and done everything a multitude of times.humanity is stuck in the wheel and knows not the way out.when we can move beyond the world of materialism and i include our physical bodies in that then we can move in a subconscious state and begin to live new dreams that we have yet to imagine[that is young and innocent]
