We put our pets to sleep because they are suffering and in pain, and we can't stand to see them carry on like that. Why should an animal get more compassion than a human who is also suffering and in pain? How can you support this double standard?

And before you jump in and say a dog needs you to make that kind of decision for it, ask yourself this: How do you know the dog really wants to die?

No, I asked a previous question about why euthanasia shouldn't be legal, and a majority of the answers said it was murder and against God.

Sh!t, I've been trying to find somebody who will get rid of those parts for me. Sadly, hysterectomies are only performed for medical reasons and I don't have a medically sound reason for one.

Nope, I don't eat meat.

I don't think that euthanasia is essentially murder unless you are taking away life support from a person who is unconscious and who does not seem to be in agony with no hope of recovery.

I know that some die hard Christians (pun intended) think that you should never be the instrument of ending someone else's life because it is in God's hands and you should just keep on praying and hoping that God will provide a miraculous healing but often times God uses people to accomplish his will here on earth. So if a person wants to end their suffering and they ask for life support to be removed I can't find anything in the Bible that says that this is a sin. King Saul asked his armor bearer to kill him when he was sorely wounded and the enemy was almost upon him, Samson caused the pagan temple to collapse on himself and his tormentors who had blinded and chained him and the Bible doesn't say something like "And God was displeased because they should have stuck it out until He had determined that it was their time to die".

The dog doesn't want to live or die . . . not the way you think it means to "live or die." In fact, in the midst of the suffering of an animal, they don't wish to die . . . they accept and try and free themselves the best they 'know'. When I was a boy, my little dog pulled herself free from a trap, and totally mutilated her foot. She sat on the front porch 'smiling' when we got home . . . like "wow . . . I have no idea what happened?" She never knew what happened!

No animal has the capacity like we have . . . language, logic, religion, art, tools, on and on. I know! you say big deal! I'd rather be a dog! . . . and then some other dog would come along and eat you except that a human protect you.

We are a very different species, no matter what you say. God told us to subdue the creatures of the earth . . . we "over see" . . . we "look after" . . . it is one of our "jobs". We do the best we can, with what we know at the time. We now must watch out for these new 'Dogs' known as "militant Islam" that wants to cut everybodies throats!

First of all animals don't have souls they have spirits. And I don't say that lightly because I had to put my Weimaraner down as she had cancer and I cried for days afterwards. And she spent two days saying goodbye to us. She maybe did not want to die, she for sure did not want to have the pain.
Also for years doctors have been providing morphine and drugs to kill pain in cancer patients until the doses carried them off. But legalize it? No way. It would be a license to kill.

I am against euthanasia for the same reason I am against abortion on demand. It would not take long for another socialist / fascist government to make euthanasia mandatory for all retired people as they are not paying tax so they aren't paying their way and contributing to the national treasury. Also it would be abused to high heaven (as abortion is). We have murdered our children by the millions and are not morally or ethically pure enough to resist the impulse to begin killing our grannies off.

Because as we all know..animals do not possess a soul...only Ol' Shep..he was one of a kind..I agree entirely most of these a88holes have never been to a hospice or nursing home for truly ill people..I hope they suffer the same way when their turn comes..

No worries, euthanasia is legal in modern, moral societies like Belgium, Holland and Switserland.

It's only old-fashioned amoral societies like Iran, Burundi, USA and Burkina Faso that don't allow euthanasia. Yet. They will catch up, no worries.

Just give them a little time.

It is not a Double Standard as you put it, Ok, let me ask you this, Place animals in the same category as Humans do you? Ok, are you a vegitarian? do you eat meat? if so then you are a hypocrite.
Animals do not have souls, accept it. They were not created in the "spiritual" image of God, Man is, accept it.

Euthanasia is not murder.

Murder is criminal homicide where a person lies in wait then kills another.

Euthanasia is ending a life to eliminate physical suffering.

Good question! Did you get this from my previous answer in regards to the stem cell question that was asked a few moments ago?

Edit:
Gotcha! I just thought that because just a few minutes ago i used almost the exact same reference that you used in this question. I guess great minds just think alike. ;) LOL

Having seen my dad waste away from terminal cancer for 3 years, suffering daily and wishing to die, I support euthanasia for the terminally ill if they so choose it.
