I'm selling them at $1.75 each
but how much would i sell them for 1 dozen, 2 dozen, 3 dozen, 4 dozen and 5 dozen?
I know your supposed to give a discount the more a customer buys. I just dont know how to do it.

if each cupcake cost $1.75 Then:
1 dozen: $ 21.00
2 dozen: $ 42.00
3 dozen: $ 63.00
4 dozen: $ 84.00
5 dozen: $ 105.00
you can give 5% discount on the 1 dozen,10% to the2 dozens ,15% to the 3 dozens, 15% to the 4 dozens and 18% to the 5 dozens.If you do then this would be the price :

1 dozen: $ 19.95
2 dozen: $ 37.80
3 dozen: $ 53.55
4 dozen: $ 71.40
5 dozen: $ 86.10

You might be able to get away with charging up to $3.99 for single cupcakes, depending on your situation. I would give a 10% discount off the single cupcake price if the customer buys a dozen. For example. 1 cupcake is $1.75. 12 cupcakes would be $21, but after the discount will be $18.90. I would give a 15% discount to any cupcake orders of 2 dozen or more.

There's a lot of different factors that you need to take into consideration. The first factor is location. For example, somebody in Chicago is more likely to pay more for products and goods than someone in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Secondly, are you renting/buying a store front? If so, you need to factor in rent, insurance, utilities, paying of employees to determine how much money you need to bring in to cover all your expenses, which could drive the cost of product. Third, is there something that sets your cupcakes apart from eveyone elses? If so, than you could charge a little more. That's great they're homemade, but if you're slapping Betty Crocker frosting on the top which is something anybody could buy, I wouldn't pay $1.50-$1.75 for that. I might be diving a little too deep on this, but basic economics has to be looked at if you want to determine a price that's fair. Looking at the competition is a great start, but I'd attack this from all angles just to make sure your charging the amount that's fair and also still yields a decent profit for you.

If you are trying to make a profit then charge 4 times what it cost you to make the cupcake......example....if it cost you 25 cents to make one cupcake then charge $1 for it.. Then I think I would give a 5% discount for every dozen that is bought. Or just throw in a free cupcake for every dozen. Hope that helps a little

Generally it is good to charge one less per dozen. For example: Charge for 11 and give 12, charge for 22 and give 24, charge for 33 and give 36. . .The more they buy the bigger the discount. You might want to consider anything over 3 dozen to be a "large" order, and then just give a flat rate of say 15% off the top of all orders over 3 dozen, because it will encourage large sales. Or, just continue on taking one item off per dozen. Either will work.

First, I would never buy cupcakes on line. Made from scratch is no selling feature for me either. Second, I wouldn't consider paying $1.50 for one either in a bakery (where they are made from scratch and I can get one the same day they are made). Third, I make 2 dozen for under $4.00. You're least expensive would be $36.00 You're $3.00 ones would cost $72.00 I just wonder who is buying these items on line.

You are not obliged to give discounts. The nice box that comes with their order is a bonus by itself. They can use the box whatever they like... it could be use as a litter box. A treasure box... anything their imagination can come up with.

Seriously, there is no formula for discounts. It really depends on you how generously you are with the loyal patrons and stuff. I would suggest giving them a $1.00 or $2.00 coupon discount for their next purchase of a dozen or two cup cakes.

The sky is the limit if they are good or specially decorated! I have paid five for one cupcake at a cupcake store and did not flinch.

I'm in the same boat as you. I own Rhode Island Pizza Company. I don't give discounts unless they are regular customers & frequently come in & tell their friends, family, etc.
The word of mouth is worth alot more than the discount. As long as you are fairly priced DO NOT Discount. You have expenses and want to make make money, stick to your price the qaulity will sell itself.
