When in Word, there's also an icon at the bottom of the page that addresses the grammar & spell check issue. Right click on that for a quicker fix. That way if you want it in the future, you don't have to go back to Tools and do more steps to activate that feature.

I don't mean to sound sarcastic but It sounds like you need it if you are getting a bunch of those red and green wavy lines. As someone already told you they will not print. These are some of the best features that Microsoft has put in and you want to defeat them. I watch people type all the time in my job and the butchering of the English language is getting epidemic in our country and these can only help you type better. Get used to them is my advice. They are a help not a hindrance. I also hope that you don't type in all capitals in correspondence you use to other people. Many consider this rude. Employers consider it very lazy. I am a technical recruiter and I pass over resume's with all caps routinely. If someone claims to be an expert in Word, yet they have misspelled words in their resume then that one gets tossed as well. How could you be an expert in Word and not know how to use helps like the wavy red and green lines and the spell check. I am also the Microsoft Office trainer at my company and I get requests like this all the time to turn off all the good features that help you do your work and I try to get them to understand that they are there to make things easier.
