Im flying to Paris at the end of the month and Im really terrified almost to the point of cancelling the trip. My boyfriend booked it as an anniversary surprise and I dont want to hurt his feelings by saying I'm not going. I have flown before and my fear has gotten worse and worse each time. Could someone give me advice on how to get through the flight without having a heart attack from stress and worry?!

all this talk about statistics isn't really helping is it?Drugs are best, prescription obviously.you could try hypnotism or honesty with your boyfriend. If my girl said she just couldn't fly,I would understand. If you had more time some of the airlines do fear of flying courses and they often work out well.Good luck

Get a window seat, it fairly is continually greater advantageous for me. yet once you're frightened of heights do no longer, on the grounds that does no longer be sturdy. whilst the airplane starts off you'llchronic around until eventually you come across the superb runway. once you get there, the airplane will commence going fairly speedy yet everythings nevertheless ok, then you incredibly will take off. it fairly is going to experience fairly strange if it is your first time flying. then you incredibly will commence getting larger until eventually you attain cruising altittude, then each and every little thing will pass smoothely except you stumble upon turbulance( once you're flying your ears will experience style of peculiar). whilst it fairly is time for respectable, it fairly is going to look like it fairly is happening speedy, and you would be turning a lot, so attempt to no longer communicate that. Then the toughest portion of flying is landing. some pilots are abloe to land it smoothely, even even though it fairly is a no longer difficulty-free interest. There you pass.

Maybe a doctor can give you a sedative or something. Flying is an incredibly safe way to travel.

The fact is that if you got on a different plane to a different destination every single day it would take, on average, 26,000 years before you were involved in an accident and you'd probably not be injured.

If you really don't want to fly then mention it now - you might be able to go cross channel (over or under) instead.

I am soooooo scared of flying too. I haven't flown in 10 years until last year when I decided to try to over come my fear by taking my daughter and husband to Florida for vacation. I made sure I packed stuff for me to do on the plane in my carry on bag. I brought my ipod, a magazine, I brought a puzzle book w/me and I swear it felt like my flight went really fast. Just bring something that relaxes you to help take your mind off of it or take a sedative to help you relax.

It's physics that keeps you in the air. Flying is very very safe. all planes have multilpe redundant systems so if something stops working chances are you wouldn't know about it. Statistically you have to fly 19,000,000 miles to be involved in an accident. Relax and enjoy it. If you're flying from the UK you won't be up there more than 90 minutes.

Take Dramamine, over the counter drug used for motion sickness. It will make you sleepy and relieve your anxiety. The only thing I found that helps my wife who has a fear of flying, including prescription drugs.

I took this free course a couple of years ago as I have to visit my parents abroad.
I now don't fear flying at all.
