I was on my way home from my mother's house and another car had been flying past me then slowing down repeatedly, the next thing I know i have a cop in my rearview mirror. I may have been going MAYBE 83, but he said I was going 98! Thats in a 70! He took away my license and I have a court date coming up, I know there are ways to prove that you aren't guilty, I just don't know them. Please help.

I'm seventeen, still in school, if I go to court and they find me guilty, will my license be taken away?? Like, permanently?

83mph either IS or is NOT more than 70mph. pay the ticket and slow down.

The fact is.....you were still speeding more than 10 miles over the speed limit, which is good reason for him to stop you. However, if you want to avoid the ticket, driving school, or risk points on your license, go take a peek in your Yellow Pages. Look under "Attorney" then the subcategory "Traffic Attorney" or go straight to "Traffic Attorney" under "T".(depends on how your Yellow Pages are set up). Hire one of these guys to represent you and fight your ticket for you in court. Do NOT pay the ticket if you decide to hire one!!! Once you do that, these guys won't be able to do anything for you, because paying the ticket is admitting guilt!!! Usually they will do it for about the same price of the ticket or LESS, so it's only a good option if you need to avoid driving school or can't go to driving school and points on your license is an issue. Otherwise, you're better off paying the ticket. Good Luck!

P.S--- They won't revoke your licence or suspend it if this is a first offense and you have no points on your license. The worst that will happen if you decide not to follow my advice is you will pay a fine and have to go to traffic school.

Go to court and explain that you were speeding, however, explain the other driver actions as well.

I would be upfront and honest telling the judge you are guilty of the speed, just not the disputed speed.

Be prepared to pay a fine for speeding...but, I believe the judge will use the lower offense in your favor!

Best wishes.

I don't wanna seem like an ***, but you shouldn't have even been doing 83. There is a speed limit for a reason. I hope you didn't have any children with you or anything. One day when your car accidently hits a bump and you go speeding either into a ditch or your car flips...then maybe you'll understand that there are reasons for speed LIMITS.

You were speeding so the ticket may be reduced but probably wont be thrown out. Just explain in court exactly what happened.

You were speeding regardless of what the other car was doing. The cop caught you so pay the price.
