Actually, the word "cure" is a falsehood. Mankind in 2007 cannot even "cure" a common cold virus, never mind AIDS, Cancer, etc.
"Treatment" is the word, so anyone claiming that they have found a cure for ANYTHING is selling snake oil, at best.

Please be very specific with your language. Did the study say blindness CAN be cured by embrionic stem cells or did it say they MAY or MIGHT or COULD POSSIBLY or LIKELY COULD cure blindness?
If it can, then the therapy must be available.
If it may, then they still try to make it happen in the lab.
Which is it.
Then we answer the question.
I got the answer:
LONDON (Reuters) - British scientists plan to use stem cells to cure a common form of blindness, with the first patients receiving test treatment in five years.
The pioneering project, launched on Tuesday, aims to repair damaged retinas with cells derived from human embryonic stem cells. They believe the technique is capable of restoring vision. The operative words being, PLAN, AIMS and BELIEVE.

It is possible that a degenerated retina could be regenerated using stem cells. It's an unproven hypothesis at this point. It is very likely that stem cells might eventually be used to cure various conditions. But that doesn't make the practice "okay". I would never accept any treatment knowing that another human being was slaughtered to obtain what was needed to heal me. The end does not justify the means.

Well I did know that blindness OF embrionic stem cell research can sometimes be cured by reading about the actual science, but I digress.

Maybe, but scientist just discovered that they can get skin cells to behave like stems cells. So much is made out of Christian opposition to embryonic stem cell research more from a political and anti-Christian point of view than from what success research has shown. Just by continuing research, doctors and scientists are making this skin cell discovery and realizing that there tends to be much more potential with adult stem cells than with embryonic.

Nothing positive has come from making and then killing embrionic humans for experimentation. Stem cells from cord blood and other"non lethal sources" have shown not only great promise but alsorel results. I've heard so much empty hype about "utilizing unwanted embryos" that i am not only sceptical but cynical about ESC research.

Stem cells can be harvested from cord blood, testicles, and be collected from adults and children, and all of the above methods are already used to treat genetic diseases, cancer, etc.
But as soon as the fundies hear about embryonic stem cells they SCREAM ABOUT HOW EVIL STEM CELL RESEARCH IS AND HOW IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN KILLING BABIES AND THAT GOD IS REALLY MAD AT US AND HOW IT'S DESTROYING A LIFE AND THAT NO GOOD CAN POSSIBLY COME OF IT!!!!!!
In other words, stem cell research goes on whether Christians like it or not, in whatever manner scientists deem necessary. It will not cease, and all Christian sandbagging does is delay its progress.

I hope they can find a way to do it with non-embriotic stem cells. But from a scientific stand point, i believe it could work. Stem cell research is important and may help millions of people. What many christians don't realize is that not all stem cells come from embryo's.

I am a Christian. I am also a health care provider. I believe embryonic stem cells research is fine. I applaud each and every advance in that field. I support any research that can cure or reduce the pitiful suffering I see every day of my professional life.

I been taking Med classes and have already seen people gone through surgery that where blind from birth that was cured and they can see. You don't need embryonic cells to do that just a lot of money for an expensive surgery =) (also depends on what causes you to be blind too)
