Video was in need of some serious editing and some volume but all in all, a very well done video.
It's the people like little bobby that amaze me. They seem to actually feel that while their ancestors came for religious freedom, the rest of us shouldn't have it and should get out of our country. Funny how those people are not the ones in the military giving their lives for freedom. Those are the people on the cushy lounge chair. Yet Christians like that feel that if they were confronted, they would rather be thrown to the lions, locked in prison, murdered, than give up their christian beliefs. But completely can't understand why I won't compromise my dignity, my reason, my integrity--and just lie about being atheist.
Not only do those christians not care about the video mentioning antiquated laws still on the books about atheists not being able to hold a public office (a law that would have been voted on and taken off if it had said Jews, blacks, women or any other group in America)--they support it! They wish more of those laws had been passed.
The religious right is completely incapable of removing themselves from their religion long enough to realize they send the military to fight religious governments that limit the personal freedoms of its citizens--while doing everything in their power to turn this country into one.
Atheists care when your religion, your deity (not mine), has told me what job I can have. Atheists care...(stolen from creatix) While I agree with you that one person's liberty ends where another's nose begins, I would suggest that you not extend your nose where is doesn't belong, like into my reproductive organs, my family's end-of-life decisions, my choice regarding who to spend my life with, and my decisions on how to raise my children. The founding fathers did in fact say that government shall make no law establishing religion or forbidding the free practise thereof. Those "mature adults" who have shed their blood for this freedom would be rolling over in their graves to see us descending into theocracy.
Unless you were brought over in slavery (like much of Georgia), your family came to America to have these freedoms. So rather than say--if you don't like my laws get out...I instead apparently have a different list of Americans I admire. Those that changed laws. All the names on the Declaration of Independence, Patrick Henry, George Washington, Abigail Adams, Susan B Anthony, Martin Luther King Jr, ...and to people like little bobby--if you don't agree that those are Americans you should admire, I don't think you should get out of America. I merely think you should go back to school and learn a bit about the principles we were founded on and what it means to be America. Then come down to my base and tell the brave men and women in the US Marines that you think they are only fighting for your right to control religion and to turn us into a theocracy. Tell them "if they don't like it, get out of America." If you get out alive, and still have the same perspective....then you are merely hopeless. And hey, every country has some of those.

Thankyou for posting that. I am not an athiest but I agree with everything said on that tape. This country was not founded on Christianity. The founding fathers were Unitarians and Universalists for the most part and I am disgusted by the way our history has been misrepresented for way too long to justify forcing religious beliefs on Americans.

i'm an atheist and that i'm "cool with" human beings of a number of religions, which contains Mormons. even although, many religions (or, greater properly, religious dogmas) condemn romantic relationships between a individual of that distinctive faith and a nonbeliever. in the tip it fairly relies upon on the persons own ideals on the issue. There are people who think of it fairly is significant to stay interior of their very own religious crowd, others who have self assurance it fairly is significant to settle for religious selection, and persons who merely do no longer care.

I was going to make a smart*ss comment, but I won't. As an Athiest, I hold many of those similar complaints. That and the fact that it's like catnip, works many people into a frenzy and that's just funny to watch.

Really good link, I'm already an atheist but it confirms why I am concerned about religion.
The people who keep asking why atheists are here on R&S will probably not take the opportunity to watch it however.

Wow, great video. I'm not an athiest, but I support it wholeheartedly! Religion should be a personal choice, not national policy

the piece was done very well -- with taste and dignity. however, the author forgets that this is a nation founded under certain spiritual beliefs and our laws are written as such. therefore, if you dont like it, you should either adhere or leave. thats what other folks who live in countries that they do not agree with do.
also, the BSA is not a government agency. so what if it receives funds. so do abortion clinics. it is a private organization and there can do what it wants. if its guidelines say you must believe in God, then thats that.
if you seriously want to be a boy scout, dont admit to being an aetheist. no one can prove you are or you arent.
I have done some research and the gentle is very incorrect. George Washington WAS a christian and wrote some very christian articles for the government. we cant just go by "hearsay". things should be researched if we are to learn.
thanks for sharing that.
