Have you ever tried to race through the treetops of the rainforest? I'm guessing not, but if you had, let me tell you something: You'd be utterly rubbish at it. Chimpanzees, on the other hand, are amazingly good at things like that. The fact is that while we got more rubbish at tree climbing (because we lived on the African plains where there were fewer trees) we needed an edge, which came in the form of being really smart. Everything else, like our cool hands and opposable thumbs, walking upright, come from that cleverness and the need to actually apply it. Chimps, meanwhile, our closest living cousins, are incredibly well adapted to living in the trees. They *have* adapted to their environments, but as their environment is different to ours, they have evolved differently. It is a common question asked by Creationists, "why are there still monkeys", and I think the reason is because we tend to think of evolution as a ladder with us at the top: We're best, why aren't all the other animals like us? But the truth is that if you need to live in a tree, then we're far from the best. All the animals are adapted to the environment in which they live, filling a particular niche. There are still monkeys because the monkeys that moved to the plains, our ancestors, had to overcome different challanges to those that stayed in the forests, so we went in two different directions. It's that simple. An anlogy might be if a farmer took the smallest cows he has and breeds them together, then the smallest of their offspring and breeds them together, and so on, sooner or later he's going to wind up with a species of really really small cow. But the original herd hasn't gone anywhere, it's still the same old cows doing the same old thing. In the same way, humans branched off from what we would call a monkey, yet monkeys remain. In this example it's artificial, rather than natural selection at work, but the result is the same. Don't be like Creationists. See with your own eyes all the cool stuff we've learned about the world. Ask questions, and, importantly, listen to the answers. There's a whole galaxy of really interesting stuff and if there is a god, I don't think he'd want you to shut your eyes to the facts about what he's achieved or how he's done it, would he?

We did not evolve from monkeys. However it is likely that we both evolved from a similar ancestor (long ago, before Homo Sapiens)
You're going to laugh at this, (get ready) but I postulate that we even share a similar long ago ancestor to pigs, mice, and George Bush!!! Why do I think that? Because Pigs also have such a similar DNA sequence to humans that we can actually just change a little bit of it and voila! We can have pigs create insulin for our human diabetic patients. (let me know when you stop laughing). We also share so much similar DNA to mice that we can use them to test cancer drugs on them!!!

It is a never ending source of great amusement the lack of basic and dare I say, fundamental knowledge that Theists have, about something they are so convinced is wrong.
We did NOT evolve from monkeys, a basic wiki search would have given you that tidbit. You are doing yourself and the rest of your imaginary beings believing friends a great disservice by showing this kind of ignorance.

You have been reading too much non-sensical anti-evolution literature. No scientist has ever claimed we evolved from monkeys. Saying such things only demonstrates your total ignorance of an inmportant scientific reality, an wondrous and intricate natural process that gives glory to the majesty and intelligence of the One Who designed it and put it into motion.

We did not evolve from monkeys, we evolved from primates. Different primates branched off to become different animals: apes, monkeys, gorillas, baboons, orangutans, humans, etc.

I predict today, R+S is going to have the Evolution trend of questions, yesterday it was Pascal's Wager, today Evolution.
Ok. Common ancestor. We didn't evolve from monkeys, we share a common ancestor.

I really hope you are joking
Evolution makes a tree. It isn't a stick. Stop comparing it to your family tree and you might get somewhere.
AND WE DIDN'T EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS
