I love kids. I would have liked to have had 5 or more but I only had 2 because I couldn't afford any more. If Mexicans are so poor why do they have so many kids. Do they consider birth control a sin? Many catholics in this country practice it. Its just common human sense not to have children you have to go to another country to feed. Everyone deserves 1 or 2 though.

I like the answers so far. Is there anything we can do as a nation to help Mexico help their impoverished and teach them that the world is chaning and we only have so many resources. Mexico is a lovely country. Changes within there culture could solve a lot of their problems. I do admire their culture though, but this is a different world than it was 150 years ago.

We do have lower class within our own country having more kids than they can feed, so we tax payers pay their food & medical expenses. I do think DHS is trying to make things better. I think education in middle school is the answer. By high school too many children in poverty are already out of the school system and having babies. The increased Mexican populations doesn't help the problems with this we already had.

Yes, most Mexicans are religious and birth control is not sanctioned by the church. There is also the fact that women are a lower class in most Latin societies and without education women are not empowered against the men. It is often seen as a sign of virility for the men to have a large number of children. The women need to educated and empowered.
Edit: Volunteer with women's health groups that work in the US and Mexico.

Its a cultural thing for catholic families to have big families. Even when the Irish came to Scotland and were relatively poor, they still had big families. Also poor families a lot of the time have big families for a number of reasons. First the wont or cant get birth control. They don't have two parents earning so there is no need to have small families. They cant afford to go out so they have sex instead

well, i think this can go for many poorer families across the board regardless of race. Poorer families are less likely to be educated and go on to school, well payin jobs, & so on. So they haven't anything else to do but have unprotected sex which leads to pregnancy w/o abortion (cost or religion) and eventually signle parents. many teens doont have the guidance from parents or the gull to even tell them. As for illegals, well they r either ignorant to birth control (what & where to get it) or they cant afford the monthly costs of visits or perscriptions cuz as we know they dont qualify for medical aid: oh and of course religion. I personally have seen many American women or even families who have large families some were white, black & yes mexicans. It just depends on ur view of life, look at the bigger picture.

Churches like power; the more people you have the more important and powerful you feel. For hundreds of years religious acts were conducted in languages the people could not read or write so as to assert even more power. As it has been and so it shall ever be I am afraid; Money & Power.

Because we pay for them. They don't have this problem when they're in Mexico, it's not until they come here, that their reproductive systems kick into overdrive. It's like Halliburten, you get the most you can out of the government, you spend as little as you can on what you get the money for, and the difference is yours. Big bonuses for all.

I personally think it's beacuse they have only enough money to purchase only food and probably very little else including birth control.
Everyone needs entertainment just to survive. Sex is the cheapest (generally free) entertainment I know.

Anyone, Mexicans or otherwise, from a poorer background typically are more uninformed about and have less access to birth control than those from a better background.

Because like you said, many are Roman Catholic who do not emphasize birth control. Some don't have money for birth control, and some are just uneducated.
