Is it true folks in the UK drink warm beer ?

Some beers are produced to be enjoyed at room temperature. Mostly dark brews like stouts(Guiness), porters, and brown ales(Newcastle). Many Belgain ale are sevred at room temp as well.
Beer was invented before modern refrigeration, thus beer is traditionally served warm in Europe an elsewhere.

there are two types of beer

Lager - fermented and served at cold temperatures, about 45 degrees F

Ale-fermented and served at "room temperature", about 65 degrees F

Lagers taste horrible at 65 and ales taste horrible at 45, they are brewed and use different yeasts with this in mind. english drink more ales (stouts, brown ales, porters, ipa, etc) Americans used to until the revolutionary war when everthing british went out of fashion, so instead americans took up the german style of beer, lagers (marzens, bocks, and pilsner styles) that is also why americans have so many german names in the beer industry, like anheiserbusch or grolsch or heinekin, pabst, there all german style beers vs the english style ales

lager = cold, beer/ale etc = room temperature.

Thats the way it is supposed to be, and its a shame really that you cant get proper beer in other countries, such as the USA.
