It's fine. It says, "Thou shalt not kill..." And yet the death toll reaches 27 million over 10 centuries for victims at the hands of churches.

1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." Hebrews 13:5 declares, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Matthew 6:24 proclaims, "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

I think that God makes it clear that He wants us to depend on Him for all our needs, Not to take what He has given us and throw it away on games of chance or gambling. However it's also my opinion that if someone were to participate in a raffle whose proceeds were going to a good cause, that may be a little different as long the main concern of the ticket buyer is not to gain anything for himself ,but to donate to a good cause.

Matthew 25 is the parable of the master who entrusts his servants with his resources. The servants who invest those resources are praised and the servant who does nothing with his portion is scorned. Playing games of chance with the resources that God has entrusted you with is poor stewardship. However if you are just entering your name in a drawing/ free giveaway there is no stewardship problem with doing that.

I've always felt that any type of gambling is wrong.

We are called to be good stewards of the money that God has given to us
