Would it be offensive to speak of re-programmed Christians, I just don't buy the born-again thing, we are only born once.

In my case there was no one but the Holy Spirit involved in my being born again.

There was no one who could claim to be responsible for my being born again, except the Holy Spirit.

You would not understand it unless it had happened to you.

When I was five I knew that God had a specific use for me, but no one was listening to me. I was just a kid. When I first went out into the work place I did not have time for God and I walked a good distance away from him. It took a great deal of trials and testing until I finally surrendered my life to God and gave Him authority over my life.

That is not an easy thing for a person to do when they are in their late thirties, but God had put me in such a position that I only had two choices. Surrender to him, let him have total control over my life, or continue being tested in ways that were not comfortable.

God wanted my attention and He got it.

As to Jesus, I have always accepted that Jesus was the Son of God who died for my sins, whatever that meant. I did not understand what it meant until I surrendered my life to the Father in heaven.

For whatever reason, I think it was because the church I went to never taught about the nature of God, but I always pictured God as this all knowing creator who had a book for everyone that has ever been created and He was constantly editing it with my successes or failures. I think part of that image of God was caused by the church that I was attending. If you were to ask anyone in that church if they were going to heaven, they would say 'I hope I have been good enough, God knows how hard I have tried'.

Well, it is not about how hard you have tried or how well you have succeded in being perfect in God's sight, it can't be done. Our best is like filthy rags to God. We cannot come to Him by doing good works, we can only come to Him in humility and surrender, admitting that you cannot do anything right without His help.

As for 'trust me', our precious Jesus was born in Israel. When was the last time we raised arms against Israel? The answer is never. Have we assisted them by supplying arms and technology to them at times when their neighbors had sworn to destroy every last Jew? Yes, we have and we still do. Israel's neighbors do not want to live in peace with Israel. It is a family feud between the descendants of Isaac and Ishmael. Understanding that just makes the Bible more real.

I was born okay the FIRST time.
And yes, "Born-Again" is just a euphemism, nothing more. The sad part is, most Christians who are "Born-Again", I probably would have liked a lot better before the fall from reality.

Born again is not re-programmed it is reborn in faith and appreciation and acknowledgement for what Christ did for you on the cross. It is a personal and individual decision, choice and re-birth after the fact. It's such a freeing, and wonderful feeling and is like being re-born because all that mattered prior to it and those feelings of worry or fear or guilt etc.... it is all forgotten. You are saved! Free!

No.

For more understanding of what it means to be born again, read John 3, Romans 7, and Galatians 5:22. That should give you an idea.

And yes, that would be offensive.

While I believe you are being derogatory I think you have succinctly reduced the "change" to its most rudimentary essence.

When we give ourselves over to God we are indeed re-programed and taught a new way to think and act. To further your analogy I would compare "Newborns" as Microsoft upgrades. It is not readily compatible with the software it was designed to run. You get a lot of errors and crashes. Then when you get some tech support from the Bible and the Holy Spirit things start to run smoother.

Oh and the atheists think you should have bought a MAC

You should study it. It is in John 3. Try that chapter.
Unless you are a spirit re programmer.
I guess you COULD only be born GAY once, however, according to your thinking.

You need a milestone to feel good about your accomplishments. Being born-again also helps to signify that you are new and clean with a fresh start...

To most of us, it actually means that they are just using the jargon of their other religious mentals who are moving down the same path of giving all their money to Jesus in exchange for a boring life that they secretly all sway from behind the scenes.

Oh, but they'll be at Sunday church right on time every week, with their 10% ready go, don't you worry!

Tempting, but re-programmed might suggest a newer uploaded 'soft (etc?) ware' so a newer & better idea.

I'd be looking for an Alt.

it means to be born not from Adam but born again from the Father. The family branch of Adam to us contains sin that pass to generations to all humans. To erase the sin we must accept God and be born again.
