Can anyone tell me how I can crop pictures from a pdf document and save them as jpegs or gifs?

I can crop and get them on the clipboard but I can't find any options for doing anything with the pic after that.

any help gratefully received.

Open Paint or your favorite picture editor, then Paste the picture. Save the pasted picture to jpeg file!
