Yes, they are especially vulnerable in the first 6 months or so of having them.

Make sure that they are covered when you go out into the sun. If you can't cover them, use the highest SPF sunblock that you can get. Remember to re-apply according to the directions on the sunblock.

Yes it can fade them. But if you go to Wal-mart or Rite-aid they sell chap-stick the has SPF in it. Look for the highest number you can find (it's usually 30 - 45, higher is even better)and apply if directly over the tattoo, so then you protect the tattoo but still can tan everywhere else, if that's what you want. It's not going to protect it like covering it, but it's better than doing nothing at all.

True. In fact a woman at work is getting one done and some advice she was given is to stay out of the sun. I have several and yes, being in the sun can fade them.

erm, stay out of the sun! uv rays are harmful to your skin and to the ink in your tattoo. every time you are exposed to the sun your tattoo ink will be damaged and eventually they will look horrid. do yourself a favor and don't have leathery skin with disgusting tattoos by the time you are 30. (sunscreen doesn't protect the ink, just your skin)

Yes it will i got my fifth one yesterday. My artist always tells me to remember to put sun block on it the SPF 50 for sports. This way you don't sweat it off.

I think what they mean is if you spend most of your time in the sun. You'll be ok.

coconuts with liver beans mushed together can help bring out the fadingness of your tattoo if your in the sun. so you can make that concacsion and then your tattooo will be as good as new.
