I'm 15 too! My bedtime is 9:00. But i never listen to my parents. I just go to my room and leave the light open, listen to music, go on the laptop. I sleep when i want to sleep. Tell your dad that you dont want a 9:00 bedtime. It's too early. I don't know whats wrong with parents who were born in the 1950's =S They still rely on old ethics!

I think that 9:00 is MUCH too late for a 3 yr old. They still need about 12 hrs of sleep and should be in bed no later than 730-8:00. Its hard to say what your bedtime should be as every child/teen needs different amounts of sleep. I would have to know, does he have a hard time getting you up in the morning, are you doing well in school and getting good grades, are you on sports teams etc, are you being mouthy/disrepsectful etc on a general basis? If you are proving to be responsible and doing well in all areas, I would say 10 would probably be better during the week... but if you are not, your dads probably right on the mark.... Also if you are involved in a lot, he might be worried that you wont get enough sleep... Try talking to him and using the examples I gave as back up... make sure you are being honest with yourself before you approach him...

I had a bedtime of 9.30 in primary school but none in high school so from the age of 12 I went to bed when i wanted its unfair to have the same bedtime as a 3yo i agree just talk to dad about it and hopefully you can agree on a more suitable bedtime for you although I do think its weird having a bedtime at 15.

Attitude is everything with parents. So remember that when you ask. Then go talk to your dad.
I'd put a 3 yr old to bed by 8:00. A 15 by 11:00, but only as long as they could get up in the morning with no hassle.

9:00 does seem a bit early. Maybe your parents made 9:00 be your bedtime so they would have some time to themselves. I would try to talk with them and see if you could come to some arrangement. Maybe you could stay up and read quietly or use the computer, something that wouldn't bother them.

Sometimes, with parents, you have to understand where THEY are coming from before you can influence these kinds of decisions. We always "banished" our kids...no matter how old they were...around 9-10 PM every evening. Why? Because my husband and I needed "alone" time for our own relationship.

Discuss this with your father. Tell him that you don't need as much sleep as your younger brother, but that you realize that your father needs time without the children around. Would he be okay with you going to your room and unwinding on your own until later. Perhaps reading, watching tv (if you have one in your room), listening to music (quietly), or whatever you can do without disturbing your father. You may find that he is very receptive to this.

Good luck.

no later than 11:30 pm, i let my daughter stay up late because i don't have a problem with her getting up in the morning. but every kid is different.
honestly, i really don't think you should have to go to bed at 9:00. that's a little too early for a teenager.

Just say "Dad, can I stay up later please?" When he says bedtime. At around ages 15 and 16 you need between 7 or 8 hours sleep. Assuming you wake up at 7am you should be able to go to bed 10pm to 10.30pm

my dear if you bed time is 9pm consider your self lucky. my parents had a bed time for me until i was 18 and it was between 8pm and 8:30pm. they were control freaks and by the time i was 18 i finally got to go to bed at 9:30pm until i left the house. so if your parents let you go to bed at 9pm you should be greatful. my parents would have never let me go to bed when i was 3 at 9pm when i was in grade school i had to go to bed at 7:30.
