sounds like china berry do you live in a hot climate? chinaberry and holly get confused sometimes.

It sounds like you are talking about the Holly...the leaves, if they are light green, must be new leaves...usually the older leaves are a dark green.

If the bush you're speaking of has needle-like "leaves" then it is a yew. The new growth is light green.

if the leaves are somewhat hard, and even waxy with pointy tips, it could be 'HOLLY'..just an idea..Try to Wikipedia 'holly'

its called a skimmia japonica, nearly always planted on new estates because of their hardiness.. hope thats ok
