Well there you have it, how can we bang on about what is good and what is not good for ourselves when we clearly should just be a bit more relaxed.

There's alot of agreement about the stress = short life span, its worth also knowing this chap also served in WW1.

Good for him! I agree with you, enjoyment of the life you have is more important that pre-occupation with prolonging it.

Probably the secret to longevity is doing what one wants to do and be happy in ones skin ( not many people are) look around these are the ones that probably die early and do not go on to longevity
Recent studies have shown that Diet doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference to lentght of life , but stress levels shorten it , thus the working class , who have no control over their lives and are told all the time what to think and do have a lower life span

Everybody is different actually. I think when it comes to health no one really knows or has any absolute rule because people's bodies are different. Some eat a lot and are thin, some eat little and put on weight quickly. Some smoke and drink and live long and others may not.

Enjoy life for sure but it can be done without smoking (which jepordises someone else's chance of long life) or drinking too much.

Good for him hes one of the lucky ones I suppose! My auntie has just found out shes got terminal lung cancer shes l be lucky if shes got a year to live due to smoking shes 63 her doc told her if shed never put a cigarette to her mouth she could have had another 20 years with her family, so not everyones as lucky!

Not everyone is built the same. I have several older cousins that have "indulged" for many years.

He more than likely has a fantastic immune system.

Not to mention his diet could have been great.

I agree people worry to much now. The government has made us into a nanny state and if you even pass wind the wrong way you could die no, our country is pathetic at things like illness everything is blown out of proportion

My Grandmother is 101. She eats red meat, dairy products and puts sugar on everthing. So, faddy diets will make you skinny but good old fashioned english fodder will keep your engine running.

Bit late for that though isn't it. There so much other stuff that can kill you in the world, war, murder, disease etc, yet in england people are told not to drink and smoke so much, yeah your right people need to chill!
