Nuclear weapons and a stance on anything that differs from the Christian ayatollas that run the states are gaurenteed to provoke american aggression. Oh That and being an oil rich state of course!

The recognition you would get from obtaining nuclear weapons isn't exactly good recognition. Really quick lets remember what these bombs do. So the only way to get other countries attention is by saying, "excuse me, I could kill you and everyone you know"? NO. These devices are not actually for destroying stuff as much as making sure it never happens. When you throw some country that doesn't understand that a nuclear bomb, then they may decide they want to be recognized a little more someday and use it just because they can. I would also have to say that them obtaining any kind of "weapons of mass destruction" would only be used as an excuse for a world power to go and invade. Iran wants recognition.....? JOIN UNICEF! I am American (I'm sorry) and to answer the question of how to protect from U.S. aggression. I don't know and I don't think anyone does, but if you find out will you tell me?

Yes, you're absolutely right. Iran had better develop a bomb, because the U.S. wants to control those oil fields! Notice how we haven't invaded North Korea, even though we know they have Nukes?

Saddam did allow in weapons inspectors. Just search "weapons inspections UN 2003" and you will find out the truth.

Do you realize we have 750 military bases overseas, and almost 400,000 soldiers overseas? How would you feel if there was a Russian military base in your neighborhood and they had the right to come in and search your house or search your car at checkpoints? I bet you'd be pissed. I know I would be.

Search Ahmadenijad's speeches online and see what he actually says. He does say Israel should no longer be a country, but he has never said he wants to attack the U.S. Listen, they don't even have missiles that can reach England, much less New York!

This war's all about controlling oil and the strength of the U.S. dollar, people. Wake up.

Safety from USA aggression? Are we the aggressors in this unholy world? Can America do anything correct these days?
We were bombed by terrorist bombers flying in airplanes on 9/11 and we are the aggressors/ We aren't allowed to fight back? Let Iran be mad not to develop the bomb although they say all this nuclear work is for powering their homes and factories. Have you seen any of their nuclear power stations being built? None! You cannot trust Iran with anything they say and even if you have 50 meetings on the subject of atomic power we must be prepared to blow up their nuclear facilities when the time is right. Iran is determined to rule the middle east now that Iraq is out of the way and they will be successful if we do not stop them.....and they must be stopped. Syria is another threat but they are playing it close to the vest at this time. Look for all of Sad dam's weapons of mass destruction in Syria's back yard. It was moved there a month before the Iraq war began. Washington knows this but won't act. Several generals told Washington this plus input from Israels' secret service

Of course! I think it's completely ridiculous that the United States feel that they can have all of the nuclear weapons in the world, but if one country simply wants to enrich uranium, they will have to face consequences. even if iran is building a nuclear weapon, it has the same rights as the u.s. If the us wants other countries to stop building weapons, the us should set an example and stop THREATENING countries. that is why iran wants the weapons, because the us is threatening to blow them off the face of the earth

Sure. I'm all for universal nuclear disarmament, but as a UK citizen, feel far more threatened by US nuclear weapons than Iranian. Why is it considered OK for the UK and the US to have them, but not other countries ?

Ambrose - what do you mean "if we allow" Iran to have nuclear weapons ? How does that work, exactly ? Do things only happen in the world if the US "allows" it ? Tell me, sweetheart, how are you going to stop them ?

True. Deep and crystal true.
We can check out during Iraq invasion. North Korea was doing continental missiles tests (possible mass murder weapons) and US just give an advice, meanwhile Iraq were invaded against UN resolution and even when they plead for international support and inspection to prove that invasion has not justificative.

Why choose Afganisthan instead Pakistan? (Al Qaeda had a lot of bases there) Nukes.

Probably these situations created a prerrogative. to use Nukes as a shields to protect soberany.

I would say that in their eyes they would be mad, in our eyes it is madness to allow them to have nuclear weapons. This country is a rogue state and will stay that way until they recognise that they need to comply with the UN-western world and talk and comprimise on their activities.

I know that the US is and can be very aggressive, however it takes two to tango. The US has always been criticised for its foreign policy but most countries even with Iraq and Iran have the same stance but don't actually go and do the job they are pushing for due to the country being neutral or are to small to mount large scale offensives against the said country.

I don't believe in war, however I do believe in doing whats right for the people in those countries that have no voice and are government controlled, pressure should be applied to make them aware that poeple are watching and know whats going on.

In reply to eurocash above, a history lesson:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ajax
(first paragraph)

"Operation Ajax (1953) was a covert operation by the UK and US to remove the nationalist cabinet from power...in order to preserve the Western control of Iran's oil infrastructure.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright... made an apology to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2000 for the United States' role in the overthrow"

no man ,i guess you got it upside down.
i believe America should be worry and looking for safety not Iran,Islamic regime are extremely dangerous and is the heart of terrorism, they are supporting Hezbollah and hammas and others to fight with Israel and west world and they are already killing American soldiers.
they want to create an Islamic empire against America and west world.they want to wipe Israel off the map, further more their stupid idea is growing up like a cancer.they need nuclear weapons to attack not to defend!they want you to become a Muslim and all this things happening by force.
i guess America is in right position and doing very holy job,so may God and Force be with them.
