It is correct if you are talking about a group of people. If you are talking about an individual, it should be "The Importance of Keeping One's Own Identity". Good luck with you essay.

You want an A? How about "The Importance of Understanding Our Own Identity"? If you're just looking for a title, "The Importance of Protecting Our Identity"

If you mean is it correct English, the answer is Yes. It would also be correct if you said "The Importance of Keeping Our Own Identities." or "The Importance of Keeping Ones Own Identity." But your wording sounds best.
If you mean is it the correct title for the essay, it depends entirely on what you write.

In my opinion it should be "The importance of our own identity". This in itself already states the importance of identity and hence you do not have to mention the word "keeping".

Your tittle is not correct.
If you wants to put a tittle to your essay put any name or an a symbol of identity which was already stored in your computer.
