My best advice is to talk to your mom about it. Just let her know that you think you started your period and explain to her what you've been experiencing. Once you tell her, you'll feel so much better. My suggestion is to start using pads at first. Tampons are a tricky business learning when to change them, and also the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare possibility. Since your body is still getting regulated, it will take a couple of years to develop a consistent flow and pattern. Using pads will help you become familiar with this. Good luck talking to your mom, it's silly, but she'll be proud of you!

Just let your mom know that you need to talk to her about something important. If there are other people around let her know that you would like to talk to her in private about this issue. Then when you get to a private area just tell her that your period started.

As for tampons I would recommend waiting a few years but ask your mom to see what she says.

I agree with everyone else, talk with your Mom.
I have found the best time to talk with Mom is in the car, driving somewhere, just the two of you.
You will have her undivided attention. Remember, she goes through this every month too and has been since she was your age. She probably has been waiting for you to bring it up!
Pads are the best choice for you right now, but talk with Mom. See what she has to say.
