Are LED lights safe? yes they are.

Are you asking if your lights contain lead? New lights (the ones you would purchase off the shelf from a reputable marketer) should not contain lead. Does this mean they do not contain lead? Well, as we have seen with the dog food and toothpaste, anything from China could contain bad materials as there appears to be a communication gap about what is safe.

I get my lights from Target. They have energy savers that will reduce your electrical load for the same price that Home Depot, Lowes and WallyMart sell theirs for.

If you are talking about l.e.d. lights, then they are "light emmiting diodes" which are a very low voltage, energy efficient way of illumination with little or no heat transmission. The majority of Christmas tree lighting, providing they are of the low voltage type (supplied with a plug in transformer - simular to a mobile phone charger) are safe for all home environments. The type of light that simply plugs in to the mains with no transformer, as a fire safety officer, I would condemn, the majority of tree fires in the home are caused by this type, as the filament lamps tend to be hotter and if airflow is restricted or touching flammable components on the tree, the lamp can break or overheat to cause problems.
