I never call it diary, I call it journal. it's a notebook where I write down things such as passwords, emails, new words to learn, things to do, schedules, a bit of scribblings and calculations but most of time it is filled with short essays, poems and other literary sketches that usually tells about my experience for the day, week or months that passed--and ideas and sentiments too. it is healthy to keep one because with a journal (or a diary) you can whine as much as you want and be romantic or philosophical as much as you like without other people putting up with you.
and oh, before i forgot, it helps you to know yourself better--and, it is one of the secrets of becoming a [good] writer. =)

Yes. I started keeping a diary when I was 13 and still write in my 'journal' faithfully. I'm 46 now and one day someone is going to read them all and wonder how I made it through life.
Kinda worry about who's hands they will end up in as I have no brothers, sisters or children. YIKES!

I used to and had every intention on doing so this year, but didn't even make it to day one, lol my partner took it for his work diary, and he doesnt even really use it anymore either :)

I do. It's my little book of anger and frustration. If something is getting to me, I can spend hours writing about it until it's out of my system.

i used to have one.. i wrote heaps of personal stuff in it. got to the point i was so worried about sumone finding it that i ripped it all up =D
