.......what next, will our nanny nation ban the import of tobacco all together? maybe they'll consider new legislation on everything else that can harm you or others such as cars, public transport, mobile phone masts, tesla masts, dogs, alcohol, chicken with bones still in it, wifi networks (soon to be rolled out in every major city in the UK), loud noises, you get it folks the list is endless nearly everything when examined can damage you or others - i feel that the UK is becoming far too controlled by the state like they are trying to slyly edge towards fascism without anyone noticing - what do you think? does the government have to much say in our everyday lives?

please pardon the slight rant.

the new comms coils that police + emergency services use in the uk were originally used in the states, deemed to be too dangerous, so sold to us at half price and have been placed near schools etc - why not ban these?

Government is regulating many activities in such a manner that people no longer have freedom to do what they want.

We have a smoking ban in public places in California, but public places are defined as such to include PRIVATE business. I think the owner of a house or a restaurant or a bar or whatever should be allowed to make that decision. If you don't like the smoke, then leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

whilst I know the prejudice to human beings who smoke, i could say as an asthmatic and a non-smoker that I help the ban in some public places. i'm from the U. S. (do no longer comprehend once you're conversing with regard to the united kingdom), so right here one won't be able to smoke in eating places, in some bars on the discretion of the owner, and interior 20ft of a public construction. i in my opinion discover it actual looking. whilst I comprehend it incredibly is an habit, i've got faith that the extra obstacles placed on human beings who smoke the extra effective. it incredibly is like letting an alcoholic drink and be rowdy everywhere they're, they're going to needless to say worry somebody with their habit as they are going to result others around them. Smoking is turning out to be extra taboo simply by fact everybody is stricken by utilising it. Frankly it stinks and it incredibly is an exceedingly unattractive and hazardous habit. The extra lives we can shop by utilising banning it the extra effective. Lung maximum cancers is a undesirable element to stay with the aid of because it oral maximum cancers, emphasema, and protracted bronchitis. i've got watched kinfolk go through throughout the damaging effects of smoking and it incredibly is unneccessary to die till now a while in common terms for a stupid ciggarette.

the reason being that there are too many health related issues involved. smoking does not serve any purpose unlike transportation, mobile phones, etc. and smokers DO know that tobacco is harmful (might not admit it out loud) and although it is smokers' personal choice to use tobacoo, others around them have a right to protect their health and prevent smokers to smoke around them. this is the way to protect public health, not to take away anyone;s rights. and by the way, at some point alcohol was banned, but it didnt work... why? because if consumed ocasionally in reasonable amount it will not harm and if one decides to have a drink it will not affect health of those directly around them. like if you decide to have a glass of wine at the restaurant those seating at the same table will not get drunk or otherwise affected.

The thing about smoking is that it is pontless. It is harmful. And not only to you, but to everyone around you.
Which is why they have legislation in place. To protect the innocent.
If you didn't have laws, where would it stop?
And yes, sometimes it is nitpicking. But many people like myself are looking forward to the no-smoking ban..
And it would be great if we could do something about the pollution from cars, too.
