If you get to a missed shot but cannot gather it in before falling out of bounds and then throw it of an opposing player gaining possession for your team, is this considered a rebound?

As I said it was a missed shot, to be more specific, it hit the rim.

The situation you're referring to is indeed a rebound, but not an individual one. In the stat books, it is referred to as a "team rebound."

"Team rebounds are credited to a team that gains possession of the ball after any missed shot that is not cleared by a single player (i.e. deflected out of bounds after the shot, blocked out of bounds, etc.). A team rebound is never credited to any player, and is generally considered to be a formality, as according to the rules of basketball, every missed shot must be rebounded whether a single player controls the ball or not."

nope, there's just possession play. a rebound term is used during shots at hoops and the ball rebound off the board or the rim.

That's an opponent turnover, with you getting a rebound.

No I don't think that would be considered a rebound. I think that would be more of a personal foul.

no, a rebound is made if a shot is attempted and missed, and you still keep inbounds.
