I certainly hope you don't do anything you will regret later on. It's good that you are aware of this. There are many resources to help people in your situation, which is not nearly as uncommon as you might think. Many of them are free. Here is what I think you should do:
First, get a temporary job. It does not have to be high-paying or skilled, it can just be working in a restaurant or shop. You can usually find these jobs online at the company's website, or by walking in and talking to the manager. This way, you will get a little seed money that you can use for your main job search.
Once you have that for a few weeks, contact a local career center. I don't know what country you are in, but many places have career assistance either through the university, city, or a private organization. Check in the local phone book for the location. If you are qualified for jobs and not getting called for interviews, it is likely that you are making a mistake in the process, perhaps in the style of your resume or something. The career center will help you with this. If you are truly qualified, they will show you what you need to do to get hired.
Lastly, be patient and don't rush. I know people that graduated from college and worked as waiters for almost 2 years before they found a suitable job that made use of their degree. Don't despair, your luck will eventually change. Feel free to e-mail me (yahoo account) if you have further questions.

If you are not being called for interviews, there may be something lacking in your resume, or something that brings doubt to prospective employers. Highlight only the skills and experience that are relevant for a particular job. Many people have different resumes drawn up for different types of work, because too much variation can lead employers to think you are flaky or unlikely to stay in one place for long. Perhaps a trusted friend or college advisor could look over for you?

Also, consider volunteering or taking a lesser job than what you would prefer. You may find that getting your foot in the door is all you really need to then grow within a company you like.

use your journalism skills to write articles and submit them to magazines and papers. it will take some effort and understand you will probably get only a 10% response. So for every 100 you submit, 9 might reject you BUT 1 could print your editorial/article. and it all starts from there. it will take some effort on your part but you are worth it. in a nutshell my advice is to be creative and create your niche. no gangs or illegal activity. Good luck to you.

No. Life isn't worth giving up. You are bigger than that. You've shown it by doing the work for the qualifications. Now you have to work at getting work.
