i dont think an indian coach will be as useful. but importantly its the selection board members who have to be changed and not the coach. they r simply useless. just see tendulkar in the team even now.

Indian Cricket needs an Indian in charge. India is a unique culture and the nuances and fickleness of fans, players, board members, etc., just isn't as easily appreciated or understood by a foreign coach. Someone from inside the Indian cricketing and social cultural fabric - like Ravi Shastri - may be better able to deal with the special demands that the job of Indian cricket coach entails.

We had the services of foreign coaches such as Simpson, Greg Chappel, John Wright etc. However, I do not find that they have done anything extra ordinary to improve the performance of Indian Cricket Team.
Under the circumstances I feel that they should try out someone like Sandeep Patil, Mohinder Amernath etc. instead of hiring a foreign coach by paying huge salary and allowances.

well for me , at this level one doesn't need a coach ! d best a coach can do is introduce new strategies , gameplans n probably help d players wid a persisting problem like d one sehwag had . d players noe der basics and a coach only adds 2 d controversies dat d indian team is so familiar with - as for ur question , if v do need a coach , it doesnt matter whether he's indian or not , but i'll go wid dav whatmore , knowing he's outta d question coz he knows d coditions in d subcontinent , has a wealth of experience , a gr8 coaching record and has dealt wid stars like jayasuriya , de silva , ashraful , muralitharan , vaas n even ranatunga - he'll b gud 4 india

I think looking at present,Graham ford would be an ideal coach. i doesn't mind whether an indian or foreigner is a coach but he should do his job perfectly and make india a world class team.Indian team has only talents but it needs a good coach.

A foriegner defnitely. We in India lack coaches who are professional enough. We have great players, but great players will not make great coaches. Also, local coaches bring in about a lot of politics and are obsessed with players of their region.
But foreign coaches are more professional and bring about no politics.
