Of course. Epidurals are not as safe as you think they are.
Why didn't you give a natural birth the 1st time??? There's really nothing to it.

That is a call you have to make yourself. I had the epidural with my daughter and loved it. It made me love childbirth. Some moms all they can remember is the pain and since I had none. All I remember is the joy of seeing my little girl for the first time. I told myself when I gave birth to her I would deal with the pain as long as I could. I wussed out after an hour and a half. My husband and I plan to try for # 2 by next summer. I will continue my feelings on deal with the pain as long as you can take it. Soon as you can't bare it get the epidural. There is nothing wrong with wussing out when it comes to pain. I actually am planning on an epidural. It made labor that much more comfortable so why not. My baby came out fine so why not ease my pain

It is striclty your personal choice. Epidurals are safe for the baby. It's just a matter of which you feel comfortable with. It is extrememly painful but the joy will overshodow the pain.
After going through the changes in your body and the ailments of pregnancy for nine months, I don't see how giving birth pain free would make you feel any less a good mother.
I've assisted with many childbirths and I think most women would rather just skip the majority of the pain so long as they have a healthy baby.
Now if your considering c-section vs vaginal, you might want to take into consideration there are benefits to the child in having a vaginal delivery. The process of being squeezed through the birth canal helps clear the babies lungs of fluid. However, if the Dr anticipates a difficult vaginal delivery or if during labor, the child becomes distressed, c-section may have more benefits. Just weigh it based on the best outcome for the child, discuss it with your physician and make your own choice.

I think you should try to go for a natural birth, that is what I am going to do when I have a baby. I am not entirely sure how epidurals work, but if you find the pain too much in a natural birth then you could use one after first trying without.

It's up to you but I think that you could always try to go without the epidural for as long as you can and if you need to have it, there's no shame in that. I was planning on a natural childbirth with my first and things got so painful for me near the end that I got the epidural. I'm going to try for natural again this time, but I have no problem asking for the epidural if I need to.

Ask for the epidural. I had my first son with one and my second without, trust me I wish I had time to get one the second time. There really isn't a reason not to get one if everything is fine with you and the baby and there weren't any complications the first time. Why choose pain when there's a perfectly safe option available to relieve it. And just because others had their babies without an epidural doesn't mean you should. Remember everyones tolerance for pain is different and everyones labor is different as well. You don't want to get so far into it that there isn't time to give it to you if you decide the pain is too intense. Plus when you don't feel the pain you can push longer and hopefully get your little bundle of joy out all the quicker.

It's up to you. I would base my decision on how I reacted to the epidural, if everything went fine I would stick with it, but if you feel that you will be able to handle the pain of a natural child birth then go for it.

Why make that desicion now? I was due last Friday and I've come to the desicion that, if I cant cope then I will get an epidural, if I can cope then I wont. I dont know what its going to be like at the time so I'm keeping an open mind.
Good luck

Why should u go through pain when theres something made to stop it?
My mum had 2 epidurals on the 1st pregnany (stupid woman didnt know what she was doing) and 1 on her 2nd pregnancy.
You might as well enjoy pushing instead of the pain that goes with it!!

I had no epidural with my daughter (she came first) and did with my son. If we do it again I would definitely have the epidural because I pushed much more effectively not being in pain and truly enjoyed having my son and was in far too much pain to enjoy having my daughter. All I thought with her was get it out, get it out and with my son all I could think was I can't wait to see his face.
This is your body and ultimatley your decision. You don't have to decide until you go in to the hospital to deliver so just go with whatever your body and heart tell you at that moment.
Good luck!
