Here it is:-

Single mothers are to be invited to give the go-ahead to the naming and shaming of deadbeat dads who fail to support their children.

What if they name and shame wrong person just to give them a hard time?

Sounds a bad idea to me.

A totally rubbish idea, just as bad as the Olympic logo or asking the McCanns to babysit.

- How exactly are they going to be named & shamed? Posters on the underground or are you going to have to go out of your way to find this list?
- Many of the Fathers may not actually CARE if they are named.
- Wrong people will be named (remember the fiasco about 'Sarah's Law'?)
- Some women may deliberatly use it as a weapon the cause their ex's trouble.
- Fathers could sue for slander / liable.

well quite obviously there would be proof expected otherwise I could start shouting Michael Stipe is the father of my children.
What I will say is for most of my children's young lives I have not seen a penny from their father, despite the fact he and his current partner have no other children between them, live in a £600,000 house, own a car apiece and holiday abroad several times a year.
Court orders have not worked, and the involvement of the CSA only made things 100% worse since they have too many staff members working on one case and none of them ever seem to communicate.
I have had to struggle juggling work, the children and a college course, whilst living in a different country than that I was used to, child care has always been a problem and so I had obstacles in my way at every juncture.
My ex decied he didn't wish to live with us anymore when it was discovered our daughter was ill, he only likes perfect things, he is very image conscious and our daughter didn't meet his specific requirements. I sit in lonely hospital corridors with her every other week, whilst she undergoes painful but necessary procedures to try and improve her quality of life, Sometimes travelling to and from the hospital can be quite traumatic for a young child in chronic pain. I cannot afford to run a car because I recently bought a house which requires substantial repair work. Three nights ago I had to take my daughter to hospital following a bad reaction to an injection she had been given that day. No ambulance was available, the cab cost £42.
So yes, if I was asked to I would have no hesitation in naming and shaming the person who merely provided the sperm required for my children. And I would have proof absolute that he is their father.
Too many men think they can just walk away and absolve themselves of all responsibility. And because I have been so fiercely independent since he left and refused to consider the idea that any other man should have to be even partially responsible for my children's welfare it has had an impact on any relationships I might have tried to nurture.
Bring it on I say.

They wouldn't just simply 'say so therefore it is' they would have to prove this person is the father. EG I couldn't ring up & say Mr Blah is the father of my child & never pays...name & shame him. There would be more to it that that to make it work.

I think its a cracking idea. Go & have a quick look in the pregnancy section here and have a look at how many girls are being ditched by pigs of boys (I wont use the term men coz they are NOT men) because they're pregnant.

Too many men feel they have the choice to bugger off & leave the woman alone. Very few women feel they have this choice...in fact, for most women there is no choice....so as men can't physically carry these kids they should be forcably attached to the situation, as the mothers are.

I agree with you..........some of these 'deadbeat dads' had the help of equally 'deadbeat mums' to produce sprogs. Some of these women would name any old bloke in town ('cos lets face it, they've probably slept with most of them!) just to cause trouble.

On the other hand...........the genuine ones, where they do have a true case of abandonment, I can understand the reasoning behind it in a way. But I do think that proof must be obtained first before ANY of this is done ie.. a paternity test.

I wouldn't want to name and shame someone anyway because it's a private matter and there is surely other ways around it than turning the whole sorry state into an episode of Jerry Springer!

Most deadbeats, whether they be Mums or Dads are shameless. So I don't see how naming & shaming them would really work. Basically, its a private issue that needs to be worked out within the family...& in genuine cases where support /access is denied, the law could step in.

i think its stupid its is giving every single mother in the country the chance to get even with an ex of their choice
just recently my best friend recieved a letter from the csa asking for child support for a child that he knew nothing about and never really knew the mother never mind had sex with her he was dragged to the doctors for a dna test for the child that came back to say that he werent the father
this almost destroyed his relationship with his fiancee who he has two children with letting women do this is giving them the right to put anybodies name up there with no proof they are the father
perhaps if the csa did their jobs and got the fathers to pay up proper maintenance they wouldnt have to put other peoples reputations in a scolded womans hands

i think it is good because the amount of fathers that fail to provide for their children is ridiculas. these children did not ask to be brought into such a situation. and as for naming the wrong person surely the mother should be sure who the baby's father is?! and there would probably be procedures in place to stop the wrong person being named and shamed. evidence of some sort would probably be required.

A ruling of "no longer in charge" isn't the comparable as asserting that the prosecution is mendacity. human beings might nicely be acquitted for loss of information, on technicalities, even for sleepwalking*. There could might desire to be a separate trial to verify that the guy replaced into mendacity approximately having been raped. as a result, i do no longer think of that many fake rape accusations could take place, because of the fact human beings could no longer want to spend much greater money than they have already got-- unlucky, yet actual. That reported, i does no longer be entirely adverse to the belief, as long because it have been finished for the duration of the regulation and not purely with the aid of vigilante justice. And please (no longer purely you, yet lots of the posters in this internet site) provide up framing rape as some thing that purely occurs to females persons with the aid of fellows. There are women persons rapists and male victims... this black-and-white physique of ideas in direction of rape is in section at the back of the shaming of male victims that encourages them to stay silent.

I don't agree with it personally, it all sounds a bit Jeremy Kyle.

If thats the line this country is going to take, then name and shame everyone who doesn't pay for what they should, eg car tax evasion, council tax evasion, tax evasion etc etc

Edit - Excellent point Dave about Mothers who dont let their ex's see the children.

I don't really understand how it will help matters. People will start saying to Geoff down the street 'hey, I heard you haven't paid child support?' and that will be the end of it. If I didn't want to pay child maintenance I'm pretty sure that this would do nothing to convince me to start.
