Sounds like either over feeding/feeding too much/water issues. Is your pump working correctly. Right amount of fish for tank size? Having too many fish in a tank will increase the ammonia levels and cause cloudiness. Over feeding the fish or using too much of the fish flakes will cause cloudiness. Many people have too many goldfish in their tanks that cause cloudiness too as they release too much ammonia in the water. Filter have to be changed once a month or it will break down and re-release trapped particles back into the water also. Here is a guideline I use with my tanks:
10 gallon tank: no more than 4 to 6 small fish (neon's,danios, guppies) 2 to 4 medium fish (such as kissing gournamis, bala sharks) and only 2 large fish such as Oscars.
20 gallon or larger tanks: figure 1 or 2 fish per square inch . Over crowding is the top reason for any size tank to have problems.
Good Luck.

Is the tank fairly new? It may be cycling (building up bacteria to break down fish wastes). This takes a few weeks to a few months to happen, and as long as there's more ammonia and nitrite (both toxic to fish) in the tank than the bacteria can process, they'll continue to reproduce very quickly - this is what makes the water look cloudy. Once there are enough bacteria to convert the ammonia and nitrite to nitrate (non-toxic in moderate amounts), the bacteria don't reproduce as quickly and the cloudiness will go away. This is natural in new tank, or those where medications have killed the bacteria and they have to repopulate the tank.

If the cloudiness is green, it's a free-floating algae that can be controled by water changes and turning off the light on the tank to prevent photosynthesis. If it's yellow-brown, it might be caused by too much organic matter (dying plants or built up wastes), or if there's driftwood, it could be leaching tannins into the water.

It's proberly time to clean it out and then get to a pet store to ask them for a soultion for this. I have 2 allergy eaters in my fish tank that helps alot I also have a sponge this seems to soak up all of the bad allergy and dirt the ends up in a fish tank. I hope this helps.

First clean your filter and if that doesn't work, maybe get a bigger filter, I got a bigger filter for my tank and it's been great ever since.
