I'm 6 feet and 290 pounds. I'm going to college this fall and wonder what I should do about this gut. I don't care if I gain or lose weight, but I wonder what would be best to do with a prominent, 50 inch belly. What path should I take?

JOGGING OR RUNNING

Daily jogging is d best thing 2 loose ur weight.
Joggin shud b early in morning, in places where therz less pollution.
For children n young adults, running is preferred. Those having cardiovascular like angina, myocardial ischemia, atherosclerosis etc can do jogging only.
Jogging has following advantages:

You can try exercises that just focus on that area. With a good diet and exercise that cause weight loss you generally will lose weight all over including your stomach. I would also try not to be stressed to much because the fats from stress go straight to your stomach first. You could drink alot of water before you eat smeal so that you can feel fullier and eat less.

Well, I disagree with a couple posters here. A 50 inch gut is already pretty loose, so I think you should tighten it up instead of loosing it. You should get yourself in better shape for health reasons and not for college.

The path you should take is the one which causes you to walk the most to get wherever you are going. Sounds like a heart attack just waiting to happen.

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

To me it sounds like you need to lose some weight. I would recommend a low fat low cal diet. And lots of exercise such as walking or jogging.

You need to reduce your wait. Excess wait is bad for the heart and your joints.
If you are an emotional eater avoid that first. Too much stress can make you eat all the time even if you are not hungry. Since i read your other question i think you have this habbit.
Use this website to plan your diet and excercise:

The best choice to make would probably be to loose it. Even if it doesn't bother you now it could cause health problems in the future. So loosing while your still young would be the best way to go about it. Try turning it into a six pack. The ladies will love you.
