hey all i love the thoughtful answers. keep em coming.

my heart grieves that people can't see all this stuff and then work around it so that we CAN get along. of course there are challenges. and there will be extremes that will deter love (like, someone wanting to kill you or kill everyone like you).

however i think it is so so SAD that if you put a bunch of people together the chances are so high that they won't get along. eeks. i don't get it. when we have so much knowledge and capacity for change. i wish it were more of a priority.

as for the competition stuff, i don't buy it. you can be competetive and still get along, like a good game of chess or tennis or basketball... it can be bonding, actually...

hmm as for being different/unique, i still don't understand why that would mean we can't get along. i love creative differences!

Because we lack love, with love everybody in the world can live in the same house.

Why can't we all get along? This isn't even about color anymore, black, white, mexican. It is more about titles now, such as thug, goth, prep, whore, cheerleader, jock and so on. Has anyone been in a high school recently and seen how those kids act at lunch. They sit in groups with titles such as above "the goth group is in the corner, the cheerleaders sit at table 4" and so on. Can you believe what the kids now a days are seeing and acting. They see their elders act this way and do it also. And guess what there is a section for the pregnant girls also. Kids are so against each other now a days. I was at a highschool(not going to say the name) giving a speech on having a child at a young age(because I did) and I couldn't believe the changes since I was in school. The groups, The racism, the titles. It's unreal, why can't we just get along? That is a good question.

your question is too general! is there really something you want/ need to know... is the same as why can't there be global peace? why are there wars? why do we do the things that we do? BECAUSE!... that's the only correct answer.

it is in our nature to be the way we are, good or bad. we don't get along because our principles, moral values, beliefs, life-style are not the same (which is good because we would get bored to death otherwise) and it is in our nature to compete with each other so that we personally live a better life (i don't like the second one, but it is true and i've learned to adapt to it). and there is a lot more to cover and opinions will differ :) of course, but it is non the less in our nature to seek for a spark that will motivate us to try harder.

You’ve got to separate Darwin from Disney. There’s no sickness, human or otherwise, associated with not getting along. The rabbit and wolf can’t get along because the rabbit is food and the wolf is hungry. This is nature. Everything competes. Getting along is a strategy that helps us become better competitors. Cooperation helps our group guarantee it’s access to resources, often at the expense of those who don’t ‘get along’ as well as we do.

I know this seems strange, but point of getting along, is to make us better at not getting along. It’s to make sure we are the wolf and not the rabbit.

Because our nature is to destroy and take, like metal!! Not to understand and pander to eachother's needs! Every so called "Golden Era" of mankind is a result of some higher powers oppression of the masses mind, body, or spirit!! That goes with civilization, religion, or government. Period.

Cain rose up and slew his brother, and we've been messing with each other ever since.

It is human nature. Like it or not, we can't escape our basic instinct. Civility is a LEARNED behaviour, but there is no one teaching these days.
