Bad internet connection on laptop but not any other computer-- why?

Question

I bought a laptop a few weeks ago and the internet worked fine up until this week. Now the internet will randomly disconnect and keep me off for five minutes up to an hour. There are three other computers in my house (all connected wirelessly) that work fine. What could be causing this? More importantly: how can I fix it so I'm not always disconnected?

I don't know what it means to reinstall the drive etc. I"m kind of technologically challenged lol.
The wireless card is internal (I didn't have to install it) if that makes a difference?

Oh thanks Jason and Holly! Yes it’s running vista. I went to the website but could not find anything to download.

Is the new pc running vista? Wireless routers are having a connection issue with vista. When you have multiple computers at home or office running XP or older. The wireless router seems to get confused..... 2 quick fixes


1. Visit your wireless router site... and download the new vista drivers.

2. Remove any neighbor devices....i.e....wireless print servers or that phone next to the modem or router.

Reinstall the driver of wireless card of Laptop. Also check the internet settings in your laptop.

Try to connect your laptop via LAN wire (or maybe USB). Just want to check if everything goes properly.

Bandwidth same occurs n my homestead ur bruthrs pc is greater commonplace what i did grow to be linked mine nd left me bruthrs pc discunnected so it thought he left nd i grow to be the only one there nd priortised mine

It could be either a software or a hardware problem.
