Alright..*sigh*
Someone I love very much chews with their mouth open, speaks with their mouth full, etcetera..it drives me MAD. Its always bothered me though, because when I was only in the 6'th grade I told her that it bothered me a lot. Of course she didn't change..and she still does it. I can't eat dinner with her most of the time because of this and I usually lie and say that I'm not hungry so that I can skip out on sitting at the table and listening to her CHEW VERY LOUDLY. I mean it doesn't just bother me any more, it makes me feel like going on an angry blood thirsty rampage. Scary yes. I can understand where some of my frustration comes from however, because I have ocd. But she just won't change. I don't know what to do and I get massive headaches and exhaustion because of this problem. It's gotten out of control, and she knows that.

Ooo god dont worry about sounding petty. I have exactly the same thing. I used to cohabit with this guy, and when he ate it sounded like he was eating from inside his head. I mean it was so annoying I had to leave the room. Also my brother never used to close his mouth, I used to just tell him, you look like a pig. or, shut your mouth you're disgusting. Harsh but did the trick!!!!

You are being driven nuts by a very little thing, but as you know, the smallest thing done relentlessly can become a huge thing. I think if this person loves you then they should know you well enough to try to be kinder to you by making an effort to eat with some manners. If this person is a girlfiend you live with, then I think you should split as something like this can spill over into other areas of your life and spoil them to. Your feelings can grow out of all logical proportion. How many people end up in jail because they could not take that one little thing any more? (I had this for 10 years with my ex and the washing up of dishes. How my blood would boil, I can hardly bear to remember how this little thing was a monumental problem and led to huge rows)

I don't think you can get over it and I don't know why your friend would knowingly keep using such bad manners. Maybe if you got a group of people together and went out to dinner and (by pre-arrangement) have everyone insist that she use decent manners or---seriously---everyone get up and go sit at another table. Maybe it would dawn on her that poor manners are socially unexceptable.

What I hate is hearing people saying "I seen" instead of "I saw" or "I have seen". Makes them sound like they flunked English 101 and I find it disgusting that anyone would want to sound ignorant. Goofy, Huh? We all have our little pet peeves. I just grit my teeth and bare it.
