Let the dr know that you are nervous about this appt. You can also request that you speak to the dr in plainclothes first before doing the exam.

A really good dr will do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and that includes explaining what they are going to do as they do it.

I have had experience with cervicitis before and when it continues to cause problems it can cause pain. Cervicitis is inflammation of the cervix.

I had the same feeling back then, I was so hesitant to see a doctor. It was not until I experienced cervicitis that I was forced to see a doctor because I was so afraid already and it was kinda late because the infection spread through some of my organs already. My best advice: don't be shy or afraid to see your gynecologist. At first it may be awkward but they will make you feel comfortable. My first check up was with a male gynecologist..so awkward and what's worst, I know the doctor..but well, it paid off and Im cured now. So you better make a move now before everything is too late. I tell you, after your first gyne visit, you will be much more confident the next time you visit.

There is NOTHING to be nervous about. Gyn's are just like a regular family doc, but have made this their specialty. If you're nervous, bring your mom or best friend.

They arent going to think you're gross or weird. They have seen it all and you know what? Stuff happens and they know that.

Just relax and realize that its in your best interest to get checked out.
