From the various factors in the world rt now like shortage of coal/petroleum/natural gas, etc, wat are ur comments on future of petrochemical industries? I need to attend a group discussion on this .. :P .. pls suggest me some points or atleast some web pages that might help

dont consider only the shortage factor.
I need to consider future demands and all .. (sigh)

1. Demand will continue to rise, with the increasing popluation and increasing industrialization of China, India, and the 3rd World nations.

2. We still have enough known oil reserves for about 200 years and coal for several hundred years.

3. Petrochemical companies are diversifying quickly, to protect long-term interests. If we don't tax them to death, they will spend large sums of money on research & development to ensure long-term survival.
