I have a Tetra fish, he is always begging for food. It used to be that everytime someone walked by the tank he would flop around like a maniac until i fed him, then he'd be okay for a while. But now, i can get him fed and 1 min later he's begging me for food again (flying around the tank swimming up and down and ramming his face into the side of the tank) i've tried hiding his food so he cant see it but that didnt work he'd still beg. its getting really annoying and i dont think its healthy how much i feed him (between 6-9 times a day) do you have any suggestions? thanks!

Fish will eat until they puke.

You are totally overfeeding him and he will die soon if you continue.

They should only be fed what they can eat in 2-3 minutes twice a day, otherwise you're overfeeding him and causing more ammonia and nutrients to build up in the tank (which could lead to algae and more cleaning for you!). You don't say anything about your tank size or other fish with him, but tetras are schooling fish, and are most comfortable when they're in groups of 6+ of the same species. Maybe if he's the only one of his kind, he should get some friends - then he'd be busier interacting with them than begging for food!

All fishes will and want to eat as long as you feed them. Most fishes are actually overfed in home tanks. Feed your tetra no more than 2-3 times a day and at specific set times.

Shouldn't tetras be in groups of 4 or more?
maybe he is bored and lonely...fish don't know when they are full they will keep eating until they burst....well, maybe not, but close. twice daily, and the food that sinks down to the bottom of his tank turns toxic so you'll eventually kill him with the uneaten food.

dont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no matter what, dont give your fish food more than 2 times a day. And give it around 1 spoon at a time. You dont want your fish to die , do you??? and anyways, shouldnt tetras be in a minimum of 4 individuals. Fish dont come to know when they should stop eating, so they always want food because its their instincts

ONLY FEED THEM THREE TIMES A DAY. IF YOU OVERDOSE THEY MIGHT DIE OR EVEN GET SICK! AND THEN WHAT WILL YOU DO? SO FEED HIM ONCE EVERY FOUR HOURS AND HE SHOULD BE GOOD. OR ASK YOUR VET FOR SOME ADVICE.
