like... when I'm happy, I'm extremely happy I can't stop smiling and feel like I'm floating all day. But when I'm sad, I feel suicidal and worthless? Is there a cause or purpose for all this waste of emotions for human life?

it's the surge and plumets in your hormone levels during your cycle.

when the estrogen levels are high-you feel good and happy, when they are low-sad and depressed.

some women only have mild pms while others have it so badly (a condition referred to as pmdd-i have this) that they have to take birth control pills or anti-depressants to control the symptoms.

if your mood changes are inteferring with your everday life-talk with your dr about it. you might have pmdd-alot of women do have it and don't know it exists. the medication works wonders-i started taking it 2 months ago and i finally feel normal again (the whole month too)

The fact that you feel suicidal during PMS leads me to think that you have something called PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). It's PMS times a million.

I had a very severe case of PPD (postpartum depression) after my now almost 5 year old was born. It was a VERY severe case, and I was on many meds for it. When my PMDD kicked in about 4 years ago, none of the meds I was on for the PPD helped at all. It was a really horrible time. I was literally suicidal every month.

I finally started taking Yaz birth control back in October, and it has saved my life... literally. I no longer take any other meds... except for my Synthroid.

If you feel that this is something that you may have, please talk to your gyn or PCP right away. There IS relief from this.

A few days before your period, your body's vitamin B (the complex, not just one of the bunch) level plummets. This B complex is one of the major things that helps keep us on an even keel. Talk to your doctor or find a nutritionist who can help you find a really good vitamin B complex to take. Health food stores are often into pushing product and wouldn't know a good vitamin from a rock. If increased B's don't work, then you may need to ask your doctor for help. There are a lot of options available.
