To express "I want to..." in Japanese, you need to take the verb stem and add "-tai".

For example, "to go" is "iku" (ikimasu).

The verb stem of "iku" is "iki". So, to say "I want to go", you will say "ikitai"

Suru (Shimasu) - to do
becomes "shitai" - "I want to do"

edit: I corrected my mistake. Thanks "Japan_is_home". Linguistic questions are horrible places to make careless mistakes and typos! I should have double-checked my post!

I Want In Japanese

For actions:

Take the "masu" form and drop the "masu" adding "-tai"

go = iku -> ikimasu (-masu) = iki+tai = ikitai
do = suru -> shimasu (-masu) = shi+tai = shitai

For things "to have):

We use "hoshii". ~ga hoshii (desu)

I want this house = kono hausu ga hoshii desu.
I want a book = hon ga hoshii desu

You can drop the "desu" for casual conversation.

well for a verb...you add "tai" at the end of the stem of the verb.
ex. ikimasu (to go) --> ikitai (I want to go)

now, if it for not a verb, then hoshii.
ex. ano kuruma ga hoshii (I want that car)
