Unless we are performing an eye enoculation,(cornea donation or such),we do not remove contacts.

If you are being embalmed for a funeral they will take them out and put in a thing that is like a contact lens with little spikes on it that keeps your eyelids from popping open. If they are not doing an autopsy and you are just getting cremated they wouldn't take them out.

Wow. One of my favorite questions. I don't know. When I worked in a hospital and somebody died, we took off their glasses and all, but I don't think we'd have noticed if they had contacts in. As for the morgue, I don't know. Do they take the whole eye out?

Yes they do. I almost died from a serious concussion in December.When I woke up I was pissed because I could hardly see and they told me that they took them out.

I bet they only take them out if you are being very thoroughly checked out by a CSI team. If you are just Joe Bloe, and die from a hear attack, they probably just don't even notice.

I would think it wouldn't really matter at that point...maybe if you were in a coma they would remove them, or if you were an eye donor.

Yes,they do.If you are an organ donor,they take your eyes also.Not trying to be mean.

Only for an autopsy. And then only if they are the same prescription as the coroner, he can use them.

i bet they would shrivel up and come up off the eye on their own once the moisture was gone from the body
