Kazmir won't be eligible for free agency until after the 2010 season. He came up late in '04, and a player has to have six full seasons of major league service before he can become a free agent. Kazmir is still improving, and you can bet the Yankees will want him, along with 29 other teams.
Maybe the Mets will get him. OOPS, I forgot, they already had him, and traded him for Victor Zambrano. How did that work out anyway?

With Kazmir, Shield, Crawford, Dukes, the Rays have visions of being playoff contenders in 2-3 years. Stranger things have been known to happen. The Marlins have won 2 World Series in the time that the Devil Rays have lined the cage of the AL East.

No, I dont think Kazmir will leave the Devil Rays in the near future. I think the D-rays will try to keep him on the team when he is a free agent.

Anything is possible but I think the Yankees are going to stand with what they have. Their youngsters are not doing that bad. Tyler Clippard shows promise as did Philip Hughes. We would have to give up that type of talent to land Kazmir who really hasn't done well against the AL East.

i think kazmir should leave the devil rays. he is to good of a player to be on a team which is always last in their division. if he does sign with another team he will have a lot of options as probably every team will want him on their staff. i hope the yankess dont get him, they dont deserve it.

why would the drays give up one of the best young left handers in the game not only to their division rival yankees, but to give him up at all?
they own him till 2010 and will try to negotiate a long term deal.
kazmir knows he'll make alot more money if he agrees to a deal that covers his arbritration years.

The Yankees won't sign him unless he's about 40 years old, has a history injuries, or lost the velocity on his fastball.
Those are the pitchers the Yankees sign.
